LAST "ER" of 15 year run tonight at 8PM on NBC -3 hour special
with many old cast members. I love this show even after working in a hospital for years, and I'm sorry to see it go, but they did a great job with it and I'd rather see it go out still good than to see it deteriorate.

1. Thanks for the heads up.
I used to watch it faithfully but stopped a few years ago. I miss the old timers. I happened to catch the one earlier this year with Mark Green and then I heard it was ending so I've been trying to watch. I had no idea their final show was 3 hrs and probably would have missed most of it.

Thank you mark.

with a one hour best of clip show to precede it.

on edit:

i miss the old timers too. i loved watching benton put down carter week in and week out, and poor carter moving heaven and earth for a tiny nugget of praise from benton.

3. Right - I just checked the listing - it's divided into 2 segments -
I am recording the entire thing.
I thought it was one long episode from 8 to 11.

5. Oh Benton and Carter! Wasn't it something for Benton to be
the one who insisted on proper protocol for the kidney transplant for Carter and to be the one who stayed with him so he wouldn't be alone. Kinda made my heart melt.

6. They have had such good writing and so many good actors for
the entire run of the show. They will be very hard to match by whatever replaces it.

IMO, it's been one of the best shows ever.

4. I've been watching the show since day one...
it's hard to believe that it has been on for 15 years! As sad as I am to see it go, I think it's time and I fully expect (hope) the finale to not disappoint

10. I've been trying to watch it from the beginning since this summer.
Considering it's been on since I was in high school - it's quite a feat.

I've made it part-way through season 7, where Dr. Greene gets his first brain surgery.

13. It's like saying goodbye to an old friend
Eventhough all the friends are different (for the most part). I stopped watching it the past few years, but started back recently because I knew it was ending.

He still has it as an actor.

17. He's really surprisingly good
He has much greater subtlety and sensitivity than I recalled from many of his other roles.

Probably doesn't help that I sat through The Poseidon Adventure again last week...

20. It was my mom's very favorite show.
I'm thinking of her tonight. She once noted that she had "the same disease that killed Dr. Greene". It was at that moment that I knew she knew she was dying.

23. I read this when you posted it a couple of days ago...
and was touched by it.

I'd like to think, from somewhere, your mom was watching her favorite show tonight.

It made it more special for me. Thanks for sharing the memory!

:hi:

It added some finality to my mom's passing, somehow. Thank you for thinking of her and me.

21. I thought it ended brilliantly tonight (spoilers)
I loved seeing the old cast come back and it had very emotional moments without being sappy which is hard to accomplish in a series finale.

I also liked the closing scene, I think they needed chaos rather than calm to close it out. Plus it finally came full circle from Dr. Greene mentoring a young John Carter to Dr. Carter mentoring the young Rachel Greene. It was a nice touch that I really didn't expect.

30. Thank you so much, Tommy O!
I saw the entire episode, but switched away when the credits came on. I'm so unobservant, though, that I might not have noticed that they were the old ones!

Great to see some of the old supporting players get some lines, especially Yvette Freeman and Ellen Crawford, nurse from the early days.
