Man Cries After Robbery Attempt Fails
TRENTON, N.J. -- Police said a 19-year-old who tried to rob a liquor store sat down and cried after 76-year-old owner locked him in the store.

Why does this break my heart? He was a robber! I still feel bad for him. I know he's a man at 19 but to me that is a kid.

4. Desperation breaks my heart.
Makes me wonder how many people try to steal liquor. I guess owning a liquor store would harden one to mankind, I know it would me.

6. without even reading the report, i think he was probuably trying to steal money
though its wierd when people rob somewhere they also get whatever is being sold as well as cash, ie 2 happy meals and an apple pie to go, oh and also empty the till.

8. That is funny/weird, but it goes with the mentality I guess.
The report says he grabbed a bottle of cognac and ran for the door. I guess because he was only 19, he couldn’t just pay for it. Is the drinking age in NJ 21? Then the owner locked the door from a mechanism behind the counter. The kid pulled a toy/fake gun and when that didn’t work he sat down and cried.

9. eek, rule number one is never pull a fake gun, i almost shot a kid who pulled a fake on me
luckily he dropped it before i bared down on him or else he would have been scunnered.

10. I have never heard the term scunnered before! I like it.
I was taught never pull a gun unless you are prepared to use it. Wouldn't even think of pulling a fake/toy gun, the whole idea is crazy. What if the owner hadn’t recognized it as fake and pulled his own real gun? Kid probably got off better being arrested and feeling stupid instead of dead.
