I think it means heavy wheat beer. They don't filter out the yeast, making it cloudy looking. Crystal (Krystal?) weizen is filtered and therefore clear. Mucho calories but oh so good! I miss Germany! I spent two yeaars in Bavaria, where Hefe Weiss is king, and every town has their local brew on tap.:toast:

One thing I did learn about drinking hefe from bottles is that once you start the pour you don't stop or tilt the bottle back up even a little. And leave a little sediment in the bottle. It's all about the yeast apparently. Prolst!
