1. I started feeling it...
... the first time I was surfing a networking site and I saw a picture and said, "Oh, she's cute. But she's only 18, that's a little young for me."

Then I did a double-take and said, "What the FUCK did I just say?!?!?" :P

4. I'll second that. Never needed glasses until 40's for reading. 40th BD hit me hard.

11. I'm nearly 32 years away from 30, but in the other direction.
Edited on Sun Apr-05-09 06:09 AM by old mark
I started to feel middle aged when I started losing my hair somewhere in my mid 40's.
I really acknowledged middle age after 2 heart attacks and bypass surgery at 53.
I'm accepting middle age and now working on old fartism at 61.
I'm not in any rush.
I'll split the difference at 55.

12. 42. Specifically 3 weeks ago.
I noticed that a cute 19 year old girl at work was checking me out. My ego inflates and I think "yep, still got it". Later that day, she tried to fix me up with her mother. That left a mark.

22. A year or so ago....
Was recently at an alumni dinner for my prep school and was seated next to a very sexy architect who appeared to be single. My pheromones were about to activate when he asked me if I knew Jxxxxx xxxxxxx. To which I replied, why yes, he is my son. Sexy architect announced my son graduated two years ahead of him.

Drove home wondering when did I become Mrs. Robinson.

33. Yeah, never tell the eye doctor "no" when he asks if you need bifocals
Specifically don't say no just as he is putting that little machine up to your eyes. Cuz he gets a really good belly laugh AFTER he puts that "teeny tiny print/closeup reading" screen into the machine and you can't read it for him. At all.
Learned that the hard way a few weeks ago.

18. I voted 40 ...
Can't keep the weight off. Niggling health issues like high cholesterol and blood pressure. More minor aches and pains.

Not only physical things, but I have to worry about a mortgage (I bought a house when I was 43; I'm now 46). And I have to start thinking about retirement security. I also don't give a hoot about certain things that are all the rage for the youngsters, like MySpace, video games and texting -- there's a definite generation gap now.

and the only thing I've noticed is a slower metabolism (and, obviously, sagging here and there).

21. Same here, except "October"
The sagging hints at itself around the mid 30s, but isn't noticeable until 40 something. But my attitude is still young. I can't see how that'll change in four and a half years, but I trust that it will.

Side note: five years ago people would all the time tell me "You're too young to have a 14 year old daughter". These days I never hear "You're too young to have a 19 year old daughter."

I'm sure it's just their eyes failing them, right?

I remember when the males stopped looking at me and started looking at my daughter, about three years ago. That's when I *knew*.

28. 40
I started getting allergies then.

Also my metabolism slowed WAY down, random joint pain, injuries take longer to heal...

And, worst of all, I could only go four times a night in the conjugal department.

:(

34. I was about 35 when my mom started pushing makeup and skin creams on me.
She doesn't want people thinking she's old enough to have a middle-aged lady for a daughter. :(
