29. And really, shouldn't "the best song of the 80s" be from a one hit wonder band?

2. Safety Dance should have been number one.
The 80's were great, even the crappy pop was 1000% times better than the garbage out today.

19. Do you two realize that you share a birthday?!
Edited on Sun Apr-05-09 12:31 PM by Rhiannon12866
Same day, different year... I noticed because it's my birthday, too. :wow:

October 11th, right? Though I'm born between the two of you, "You Belong to Me..." Awwwww. :-)

I've only ever met one other person that shared my birthday and it's not the same year, either. Eleanor Roosevelt was also born on this day. Happy birthday to all of us!:hi:

27. "Easier Said than Done" by The Essex
Edited on Sun Apr-05-09 04:10 PM by gmoney
Didn't recognize it by the group name, but its one you'd recognize... I'd always assumed it was the Vandellas or someone like that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Essex

Weird thing, the group was a bunch of active duty Marines, which I guess made it hard to tour and cash in. Wikipedia reports a rumor that the song was recorded in 20 minutes.

7. The 80s were terrible
I throw up in my mouth a little each time I think about the music of the 80s. Ok, maybe there were 3 or 4 good albums that came out then, but that's about it.

Don't Dream Its Over
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgihOCZ-lnE

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
Theres a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But youll never see the end of the road
While youre travelling with me

Hey now, hey now
Dont dream its over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they wont win

Now Im towing my car, theres a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but theres no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the t.v. page

Hey now, hey now
Dont dream its over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they wont win

Now Im walking again to the beat of a drum
And Im counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief

Hey now, hey now
Dont dream its over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
Dont ever let them win

I'd say a TRUE one hit wonder would be a band that had their hit, then vaporized like, say, The Vapors?

Warning: video features left-handed bass player

I can't say it's a bad song, it just lacks soul. Kinda like Shrub*; a mile wide and an inch deep.
