we are doing away with cable t.v.

we have nearly every gaming system except xbox (billg doesn't need our money) and plenty of dvds, and there's always library rentals, so we felt no need for cable.

except, there is the occassional show, like the daily show, which we enjoy every now and then. we can see these on our computer monitors, but of course our t.v. is the best viewing for this and that's only hooked up to the gaming consoles.

i know the wii and ps3 have internet browsers, but we've not had much luck getting videos to run. i'm guessing there are system limitations and/or the t.v. sites (abc.com, nbc.com, cbs.com, comedycentral.com,...) use more advanced software than the gaming consoles have.

are we out of luck, or has anyone been able to watch internet t.v. on their regular t.v. monitor without hooking up a proper computer to it?

tia!

1. If it's posted on Youtube, then the Wii's "Internet Channel" will play it.
Other sites, doubtful - unless they support older Flash technology.

If Google/Youtube decide to update their site so that Wii users can't access their videos well... a sad day.

Basically technically put, Wii has Flash 7 but Flash is up to version 9. Adobe released version 8 and 9 for Windows, Mac and Linux but for "other platforms" they have stopped at 7.

Mark.

3. PS3 has a good web browser.
But I find that unless its youtube the PS3 browser might not like it. And it has problems with some flash sites. But I use it to watch youtube videos on my big tv.

6. You could set up a local media server on your computer, and stream it to your game system...
I do that with my Wii, and can play DVD movies, video clips from the internet, etc. all within the Opera Web Browser on the Wii.
