Here's a silly little poem about my chin...
“Covered by a bandage”

There’s a bandage on my chin
The worst possible place
So prominent, so out there
So visible.

But it’s covering me
Up.
Making me acceptable
So I can go out
And not scare or offend.

Once upon a time
there were some odd cells
They lived in my chin
And nobody saw them
Not even me.

They quietly grew
Went about their business
Invisible to all
Yes, even to me.

But, you know, it had to happen
Slowly they were the worst thing:
Visible.

But even then,
They came and went
Visible and then ...
Not.

So I watched
And waited
To see what would happen.

The doctor thought nothing of them.
Not to worry
Just a pimple or something

They disappeared with that cream
And came back when I stopped it.

So much fuss
And mess
Be gone with them!

So now we know
And they’re gone
completely done for.

Basal Cell Carcinoma.

Their former home
is now a crater
Burnt and cut

Covered by a bandage.
So I can go out
And not scare
Or offend.

Ah, sweetie, you are too kind! This is (for me, anyhow) a silly poem...

And the spot isn't too bad...

Thanks. sweetie!

6. My dear Skittles!
How about both?

Except the basal cells are gone...so I could live with the praise!

That's the perfect word for it: whimsical!

Thanks!

4. The scar should not offend--
The scar should not offend, of course,
my dear California Peggy,
for it represents a win of sorts--

that your chin not be cut
off to spite your face, but rather
a spot be effaced to save the face.

The home of your carcinoma
may have been ravaged with the doctor's touch--yet
it's better the spot is gone and didn't do so much

to harm a face that harbored it,
so I am glad you saw the end of it,
and the bandage is a badge of honor.

But never would your face scare, my dear,
nor ever cause a one to fear, for your open smile
is grace enough--and your face is tough enough--

to see out those intruding cells,
and collect positive vibes like healing spells,
to make the bandage near invisible--

and the brush with danger is quite risible.
Carcinoma hurt our Peggy? It could not be--
Our Lounge would be colder without thee.

5. Please don't come here ...
... with your bandaged chin.

You could be a terraist, brandishing an explosive device.

You could be one of Teh Gays, intent on spreading your homo agenda via a band-aid on your face - easing me into a false sense of security before you strike.

You could be an anti-Christian, covering your 666 mark-of-the-Devil under a bit of adhesive gauze, meant to play on my sympathy.

OR you could be a good friend, one who has a way with words - and an incredible sense of humour, and an ability to laugh at life's trials and tribulations, thereby rendering them powerless over us all.

I'm going with the last option ... I think I have chosen well.
