Man, I'm glad I don't drink anymore
I quit drinking heavily about a year ago. I quit drinking totally New Years Day. I had a dream tonight that I had gotten shitfaced at a party. A lot of other people did too and people were doing and saying things that they wouldn't dare do or say while they were sober. I was thinking, even in my inhebreated state, that this was a real bad deal and I could see the emotional violence that I was causing myself. If there wasn't going to be hell to pay that night, there surely would be in the morning.

I came away from the dream with a really nice line for a poem, though. "Eyes made of love." I've never wanted to hurt anyone but myself. Now days I even want to be nice to me.

2. Nah, I really don't have a whole lot to be proud of in that regard :)
I drink at least a gallon of water a day and listen to the kick-assiest music I can find.

3. Hi Droopy...
I drink about one tenth of the amount of alcohol that I used to at my peak, and I think I am better off.

Now when I drink, I only drink at home...it is safer, and there is no one around for me to harm with any drunken antics.

Don't get me wrong, I still like to get a good alcohol buzz maybe once a month or so...but nothing like the old days.

That does not sound like a very pleasant dream that you had.

I am glad that you are following the course that is right for you...you have quit both drinking and smoking...both accomplishments to be quite proud of. :hi:

4. Thanks LFP
Yeah, I'm not one of those ex-smokers or ex-drinkers that feels the need to lecture other people on their habits. When I post about that stuff here it is mainly for myself. If someone comes along and asks me how I quit I'll tell them, but I don't usually offer unsolicited advice. I know alot of people here enjoy drinking in particular and it doesn't mess them up. I just had to get away from it. The pleasure/pain ratio was leaning a little too heavily on the pain side.

6. That's very nice. Thanks, Jitterbug
Usually it's me that's doing the admiring. :) I spent a large portion of my life not being all that admirable. I guess I'm still recovering, but things are getting better.
