Ok, I'm ready to strangle Stalker Cat
It's pissing (or perhaps spraying) on my front porch. Not only is it upsetting me but the damn porch smells now. I realize stalker cat wants a home but it's not with me. I'm at my 2 cat maximum.

5. He's spraying. Marking territory. You only THINK it's your porch.
And it is a lovely aroma, isn't it? Wait til he moves the Missus in to give birth underneath. My back porch is practically the kitty delivery room for these parts.

8. We have a Stalker Cat too.
Edited on Mon Apr-06-09 04:02 PM by Patiod
Our stalker hasn't let up either, and he's spraying our door. I may try the ammonia trick listed above. It's pretty bad.

He sleeps at a neighbor's house when we're not home, and the neighbor told us he's bringing Stalker Cat to the vet, but I think it's too late, I understand that males spayed at an older age still spray.

The neighbor said "don't give him wet food - I don't want to spoil him" and my SO said "that's why he's stalking us and not you!"

Edit: If you look closely at the picture, you can even see where he's spraying the door!

9. not necessarily
This winter I adopted a stray who had been coming around to eat and sometimes to have a snooze for several months. He did spray before neutering and some after too...the difference is that the spray of intact males is FIERCELY STINKY and less so in neutered males. But I did get him to stop. First I just followed him around with a 1.5 gallon pump spray can of Nature's Miracle and cleaned up and waited for it to subside as the hormones did, but after neutering I started to react, like shrieking, not really AT him (I didn't want to address anything like anger at him in particular) but at the behavior and the boy is so smart that he caught on very quickly (only about 3 times when I caught him in the act)that this was not good indoor etiquette. Even before neutering I noticed that the spraying escalated when the other cats here challenged his presence. It was a case of staking his claim but inside it reflected his insecurity about belonging. He's a proper indoor boy now, uses the litter box and marks by chin rubbing. Some of that Feliway spray might help on the areas he sprays if it's worth it to you ...it's cheek pheromones and tends to make them feel secure and calm.
