Either total Trekkers loved it, and it's a valid "reboot" or people looking for a free show of Wrath of Khan were so happy to see it, they loved it anyway.

Personally, I'm voting for the former. As a person who bitched to no end about the US screwup of the Brit "Life on Mars", I can empathize with the concern, but they just might have pulled it off with this one.
