I'm now part of the iPhone cult......
flame away!!!!

Seriously, I went to Verizon to cancel my service and they couldn't have been more disinterested (as they have been for the past several months). 5 or so of them were gathered at the counter just talking and goofing off while two were working, so I had to wait for a good 10 minutes before being helped.

I walked into the AT&T store, and they couldn't have been more friendly and helpful (and prompt- the door hadn't shut behind me before the manager had greeted me and assigned a salesperson to me).

So to Verizon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAKyHhuw1HA

7. What slays me....
is that I had the best of the best (non-blackberry) that Verizon had to offer, and it didn't even scratch the surface of what I can do with this thing. AND, my monthly bill is going to end up being a little LESS.

So basically, I was being fucked with something hard and sandpapery for 7ish years and didn't even know it. The mind wobbles....

enough....." "Ummm, Honey, can I buy the new 3G iPhone? Pleassseeeeeeee!"

(who was excellent, BTW- knew the thing inside and out) said that Apple would be rolling out a bunch of downloadable upgrades for the 3G phones very soon.

18. Yeah, it's the 3.0 version of their software. I've been reading about it and it sounds very cool.
I'm excited that the new software will enable streaming bluetooth headsets to be attached and that might mean that I can finally link it to my GPS.

8. I updated my Blackberry OS last week
I fell back in love with it. Keep your over priced Steve Jobs kool aid. I have a 4 gig SD card in it for music and pictures, plenty of apps to get shit done, and I've never had to sit on pins and needles to wait for the programmers to make a simple function like cut and paste.

which turned out to be utterly useless.

15. Cheaper than my POS Blackberry that lasted a year and a halfbefore
It went kaput. Oh yeah and I had the damdest time using the internet feature on it, so it was a worthless large heavy POS....But thats just me...

20. Amen!
I'll never go to AT&T just to get an iPhone. I'm perfectly content with my BlackBerry Storm (although I'm looking forward to the release of the BlackBerry Niagra in May or June '09 and BlackBerry Storm 2 in late '09 or early '10).

23. A year ago, I thought the same thing....
But I only went to AT&T after Verizon sold me a POS and refused to own up to it.

Had they allowed me to trade in the junk, I more than likely would have stayed with Verizon and bought the Storm.

10. Surprisingly, I've had no problems with Verizon.
Edited on Wed Apr-08-09 08:45 AM by bbernardini
While I'm a diehard Apple guy, Verizon is the only carrier I've had no problems with (and I've tried them all). Everybody I communicate with on a regular basis is on Verizon as well.

My wife and I went in a few weeks ago to exchange our phones for BlackBerry Storms, and the people there couldn't have been nicer. One guy was on his way out the door, as his shift was over, but he stayed behind on his own time to help us transfer our info to our new phones and set up our e-mail accounts on them.

Oh, and their 20/20 FiOS service is INCREDIBLE.

12. I was very happy with Verizon, up to the point I bought the Dare...
That thing didn't work right from day one. It was reprogrammed and had new firmware uploaded to it more times than I can count, and it never worked (and I got sick and tired of them telling me that I had to turn it off, take out the battery, put the battery back, turn it on, and dial *228 every time it stopped working- which was daily). They ultimately replaced the original one with a brand new Dare, that did exactly the same thing. Only after switching back to my old Chocolate did the problems cease. Conclusion: The LG Dare is non-functional as a phone.

All I was asking for was the right to trade in the Dare (which was in new condition) and be allowed to purchase another phone, and they led me on a wild goose chase thinking that if I jumped through certain hoops I would be able to. Then, they pulled the rug out and said, "No. We'll give you another Dare, or you can buy another phone at full retail price." And NOW they're acting all shocked that I left.

Glad you're satisfied- but they were screwing me.

I think right now I have a 99% of getting one, it's just a matter of when I'm able to get up to see them or they're able to come down to me.

24. I like it so far.....
we'll see how it goes after the "gee-whiz" factor wears off... But I do know that Apple has put out some amazing and groundbreaking products. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, they're CLEARLY doing something right.

26. At least the Verizon folks didn't charge you...
It seems like whenever I go to a Verizon kiosk they tell me they'd have to charge me to help - but then I could just press star somethingorother and do it myself for free.

In general though, I've given up switching carriers because they've pissed me off. I think I've cycled through them all already.

Verizon gets the title of "First wireless provider to REALLY piss off SacredCow."
