1. When I was younger, I used to get eye infections pretty often...
Edited on Wed Apr-08-09 07:41 PM by Haole Girl
finally one doctor convinced me to never - ever - touch my eyes. It sounds so simple, but it works.

A friend of mine at work uses baby oil on a Q-tip to gently rub her eyelid when she gets a stye... she says it works.

Hope this helps.

2. I will sure try it. It is soooo hard not to touch the eyes.
First of all, I wear eye makeup. Secondly, I don't even realize when I do it. I have noticed today though. I go to scracth my eye area, and OUCH! I am reminded about that damn ole stye.

3. It is difficult. Even if you wear eye make-up you can avoid it, though.
Oh, and, don't ever use old make-up... but I'm sure you know that!

18. Damn, your little baby is too cute!
Every time I read one of your posts I am distracted by the utter adorableness of that child.

You should put her on the Cute Overload site!

your immune system may be a little down from that work - make sure you are getting all the good nutrition you need

and wash your hands lots, don't touch face

8. I may have. She has an ear infection right now.
It is quite possible.

As much as I love daycare, it sucks. She never got sick before she went. Now it is like what sickness can she bring home next. x(

9. they need to get sick now - it will be like that for the next 10 to 12 years
its a pain but they need it, this is how the immune system "learns" - it goes with the dog drool and good old fashioned dirt they need. Mmmmmm babies

10. So true.
How did we all make it to adulthood with all the germs.

We used to drink out of the same glass.

11. I thought I was getting pink eye earlier this week
The man had it a few weeks ago. I woke up the other day and it was red and bothering me, and for a bit it seemed like a discharge was coming out of the eye. The next day it was fine.

12. Blepharitis?
Edited on Wed Apr-08-09 09:57 PM by hibbing
Hi,
I got a sty once I had to have removed surgically, that was interesting. You may want to try gently washing your eyelashes with baby shampoo and a cotton ball. My doctor said I had Blepharitis (sp?). Basically some crud gets on the base of the hairs of your eyelashes and clogs them up which leads to not so pleasant things. Just a thought.

For the sty itself, a warm washcloth is supposed to help.

Love the baby pictures.

Peace

13. I used to get sties all the time...
They're usually caused by staphylococcal bacteria. Maybe you picked that up somewhere? Regardless, warm compresses always took mine away within a few days. Also....throw away your make-up so you don't re-infect your eye.

Your little one is quite a cutie! :)

15. I was having frequent conjunctivitis and my doc suggested it might be rosacea causing it.
It is truly annoying when it feels like something is in your eye and you can't get it out.

17. It's all those baby germs!
(KIDDING!)

But wash your hands often and keep them away from your face. That's pretty much good operating procedure for everyone.

20. Pollen. I hate it.
Edited on Thu Apr-09-09 11:53 AM by Jamastiene
I was once a person who did not even believe in allergies. I thought allergies were excuses for wimps to get out of doing the dirty work. In some cases, that was true, although not all cases. I now realize that.

Now, I HAVE allergies... to tree pollen. I don't know if it's the oaks, the pines, or which one of the bastards it is, but I DO WISH they'd keep their TREE SPERM out of my eye, the nasty florialitists* tree are. It doesn't make for good pr0n and it has been giving me HELL for the last 3 days now.

Tuesday, I had what felt like a BOULDER in my left eye. I cleaned it and cleaned it and cleaned it. Finally, I found a huge grain of pollen.

Wednesday, I had what felt like a MOUNTAIN in my right eye. I cleaned it like mad, even more than the left eye on Tuesday. I finally got the grain of pollen out of it.

Today, both eyes hurt like crazy and I'm trying my damnedest to avoid going outside. There is a layer of pollen an inch thick on my deck. No fucking way. I don't want any more. I'll probably have an oak sprouting out of my left eye and a pine sprouting out of my right eye in a few weeks. The LAST THING I want is a cedar tree growing out of my belly button*.

*Well, it wouldn't be bestiality in this case. I'm not sure what else to call the fact that they cannot seem to hit the mark without hitting so many other things, including my EYES, along the way.

**Or any other orifice, while we are at it. :wow:
