Husband and I are just...hanging on by our eyeteeth. Our savings have finally been depleted and we are both working a few days a week (if you don't know, he's a dj and I'm a dancer) but the money is just not there (I came home with $20 two nights ago, he came home with $45 tonight; shift pay comes in a week and a half). The club I usually work at has told me I am not allowed to work because husband has been hired for a new, competing club that is being built a couple miles down the road..but the new club is not open yet and keeps having construction delays, so we are relgated to the hole in the wall that we are both currently at. Not that it matters much, my friends at the old club are not reporting much better profit than we are making anyway.

We are already on food stamps, but my insurance is due Friday and I don't have it atm. He's got a gig tommorrow,and I am hoping a friend will babysit so I can attempt to work also.

We can see that there may be hope in a few weeks, but it is just mentally and emotionally very challenging right now. We do what we love, and I dare to say that we are both quite competent at our jobs..it's just, you know, there's no money right now. We've called and networked and put resumes out all over with no luck. All I can ask for now is good energy our way. I would greatly appreciate it. If nothing else, we will at least feel better...

I'm sorry to ask when there are so many other people in such need. I hope we can all support each other in these challenging times.

I always think of DU as a "spirited" neighborhood bar anyway, so when one of us hurts, it just brings us together more.

Take care and if we can do more, don't hesitate to ask. I remember living for two weeks as a child on peanut butter and bread while my dad was waitning for a paycheck from his employer after leaving his last job; I know what it's like to know that better times are just around the corner but in the meantime, it hurts. I remember all too well.

I know how it is. Things will turn around for you. I've been out of full-time work for 4 years. We hit rock bottom about two years ago. Then I got a couple free lance gigs and things turned around. We're not rolling in it, butt I get just enough work to keep out of debtor's prison. My wife works part time but doesn't get paid nearly as much as she's worth. Hang in there.
