Joss Whedon / Dollhouse
:banghead:

Dollhouse is http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2009/04/dollhouse_finale_goes_straight.html">getting the ax. Joss Whedon must be nuts for even trying to work in network television.

1. That's what happens to a lousy series.

It's hard to like a main character who has no personality of her own. It's also hard to watch a show that's close to the embodiment of institutionalized sexism.

3. I think the arc of the series
was that the main character begins to become self-aware. It had potential. And a crappy time-slot. (I saw maybe half of the episodes).

4. By my standards, if you have to watch a half-dozen episodes before
the series starts to show potential, it isn't a good series.

5. On one hand, it's Fox, so yeah. On the other hand, Dollhouse sucks, so yeah.

6. I wouldn't beat up Fox for this decision. It's the second time they've bet a lot of money on Whedon
They also gave the awesomeness that was "Firefly" a chance. They give him a shot; but network TV is a cut throat business. I seriously doubt anyone will be clamoring for a "Dollhouse" movie.

7. Fox did not give Firefly a chance, they sabotaged it
Moved it all over the place, bumped the pilot so that "The Train Job" had to be created out of whole cloth to fill the gap, aired episodes out of sequence so the story got all fubared, preemption...

Fox cited low ratings as the reason for the cancellation, but the ratings were low thanks in large part to Fox's bungling.

8. Yep. I remember watching the premiere episode
and wondering who everyone was and what the hell was going on because they didn't show the pilot as the first episode. It's almost as if Fox wanted 'Firefly' to fail.
