What is a good, free email client?
Edited on Thu Apr-09-09 03:54 PM by never cry wolf
My old laptop died, and took my outlook express with it. My new laptop came with MS Office including Outlook for a 60 day free trial but I refuse to pay MS for a full blown version. I have installed open office to cover most of the apps but I still need a good email client. I liked outlook express and used outlook at work, is there something similar. It has to be compatible with hotmail and hopefully easy to set up accounts.

Any suggestions are welcome?

Thanks in advance!

1. For some reason, I never liked outlook. I use online
e-mail servers, webmail. I use care2.com and have never had trouble with it. And if your computer dies, you can still access it from others.

5. Not really a client. It is a web based email.
Similar to hotmail or Yahoo mail I believe. A client is just a program to help organize your email accounts, you can had multiple accounts, send and recieve from any, share contacts. I just hate having to have my browser open just to read email, having to refresh to see if I have any new mail, etc.

6. Oh, I see ...........
You can do all those things with gmail, but, yeah, you'd have to have your browser open.

Oh, well, live and learn ......................

I've got my gmail, yahoo mail, and verizon.net mail all working with it very nicely.

Or download and install SeaMonkey-the full browser put out by Mozilla. Has browser, email and a webpage composer built in.

9. In order of my preference:
Evolution, Thunderbird, Eudora (I think that's still free).

Why not just switch to Ubuntu and drop Microsoft altogether?

You can run a live CD first to test drive it without affecting your windows system.
