So, at the job interview today...
she asked "How many job interviews have you had lately?"

I have two questions:

1. How is it any of her goddamn business (except insofar as I might wind up taking one of those other jobs)
2. How the hell could she possibly believe whatever number I'd give?

I mean, I've had 62 interviews since Monday.

Or have I?!?!?

2. Right after I graduated from college and was interviewing I was asked that
I told the interviewer I did not count the numbers, but that I was treating job hunting as a full time job that I spent fifty to sixty hours a week doing. She seemed satisfied, though I did not get that job.

3. My answer to her: 'How many stupid interview questions have you asked lately?'
Okay, that wasn't my answer. But that's how I'm going to remember it.

The job wasn't a good fit anyway, but I'm glad that I had the interview.

5. Gads, job interviewers are just folks like you and me.
They don't know more than any of us. HR people are flunky office folks. They are trained to intimidate the rest of us!

Stand tall and don't let them intimidate you!

If you need a pal, we'll be here.

9. Thanks but my last job interview was 30+ years ago
The only job I was offered back then was a temp position with no benefits - ten months, no days off. I could not take it as we had other stuff come up that required me being somewhere else. I ended up starting my own business which I am now sort of retired from. I got to do what I had always dreamed of, which I couldn't have done if I had gotten any of the jobs I wanted. So aside from getting old way too fast, life has been pretty good.

4. I've never understood what that question is supposed to tell
them. If you've had a lot, do they think well nobody wants this person? If you haven't had many does it mean you're lazy? I hate that question. I've gotten it before but can't remember how I answered it.

6. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Do they REALLY want to know the answer?

15. Ooooh! I just ranted about that exact question a few days back
Not sure if it was here or in GD.

The question can't possibly be intended to yield information, because either the answer will be true and undesirable or false and obvious, with no middle ground.

The clear and sole intent is to rattle the victim of the interview.

7. Some time ago , I was going on
so many job interviews, I truly knew more than the interviewer, knew more of that should and should not be asked. I must have looked bored to them, must have looked condescending.

One question I was asked (and of course did not want the job) you know, that stupid, typical question when the interviewer does not know what to ask, "Where do you see yourself in five years." I said, and pointing at the interviewer, "right there, right where you're sitting. I see myself doing your job." Serious! Neediness to say, I was not hired.

10. Don't you want to say something like:
Define Lately, please. I will need a more specific parameter in which to compose a meaningful answer to your useless question.

11. Say you have had a lot in the past few days/week.
Then they will feel a desire to compete for you.

14. Best question I ever got in an interview:
"What makes you qualified to be part of the Kinko's team?"
