4. I'm getting close to the point where I think I'll fail at this

I got the shakes....I feel very on-edge, irritable especially at work ( where I am used to stepping out at least every 15-20 minutes for a smoke. I try not to think about it, and just think about the money I'll be saving in the process.

I wonder if people who have never smoked in their life realize how hard it is to just stop outright without the craving....as I posted before many times, I just wish I never started ( 16 yrs. old )

20. I smoked 1-2 packs/day for around 25 years, so I know how tough it is to quit.

I managed to finally quit ten years ago, and I was hell on wheels for about two months during the process.

Are you doing the patch or gum or anything? Keep trying, and remember, if you don't manage it this time, you'll have some experience under your belt for the next time you try. Don't beat yourself up.

21. I switched over to e-cigarettes

I haven't had a real smoke for 8 days now. I feel a lot better, sense of smell and taste has returned and I am enjoying vaporing now. I couldn't have done it without e-cigarette to break me away from analog. I admire people who quit without help of e-cigarettes which didn't exist until recently (less than a year). I hadn't heard of it until two months ago when DU poster mentioned it here in the Lounge.

Pour one out for RT tonight... I have said to myself each night this week that I would have a beer, but it's been so late each night when I get home that I have yet to have one (and tonight is shaping up to be stone cold sober too).

I wish you luck, too....to me, if I have a beer a cigarette goes with it naturally just like coffee. I commend you for your effort on the drinking, and I know I should cut down on it myself. To add onto the stress of paying off my bills, things are very stressful at work at this time....making it a bit difficult to quit smoking or drinking ( although I know both would save me a great deal of money, and offer a benefit to my health ).
