I saw it in the theater in 1993. I think it was the last time I cried at a movie. And it wasn't b/c it's sad; the movie is about transcendence and grace.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106881/Well I watched it again yesterday and kinda got choked up again. I guess I find it powerful.
Jeff Bridges (arguably his best role), Rosie Perez (brilliant in this), Isabella Rosselini, a young Benicio del Toro, John Tururro (sp), that Hulce guy from Amadeus, and score by the recently departed Michel Jarre. About a brush with death, saving and being saved, life's simple beauties. I found it provocative but never preachy. It asks the beautiful questions and doesn't trry to force feed you any answer.
Tastes are so strange. My wife is completely surprised I like it. So it's kind of hard to say "You gotta see this." But I'd like to talk to folks who have seen it. Did you find it powerful?
And oh yeah, LOST fans. You should watch the first ten minutes of this at least. Lost refers to it big time in it's opening 10 minutes or so.
Anyhow, check in if you want to geek out b/c you liked it, too.....
