Poll question: Neil Young or Willie Nelson?
Just to see how it goes.

1. Not the same. Neil Young has his place, and Willie has his.

3. Yet still I ask.
Both are singer-songwriters with a social element, both have odd voices that they use to surprising effect, both are ugly as sin yet charming in their own way. Even crossing genres, they have a similar sound--slow, melancholy, intimate voices.

They aren't the same, but it's not apples and oranges. More like Gala to Granny Smith.

10. I would agree except that Willie never has a rockin' band behind
him like Crazy Horse. (ok- whiskey river era was pretty rockin' but not CH level) Otherwise they aren't too far apart and most of Neil's time is spent without CH. They perform beautifully together as I witnessed at Farm Aid many years ago.

12. Superdome
I had Guard drill that weekend, so I missed the first half, but saw Kristofferson, Gin Blossoms, Spin Doctors, and Neil Young. It was the year Mellencamp canceled because of heart trouble.

14. Not so.
Both play guitar, both sing, both write, both have similar subject material. They've worked together on the same causes, sung and played together on the same stage... Very similar artists, with only slightly different styles, even if they were marketed to different audiences.

The comparison doesn't work for me as a huge fan of both.
