In the heart of calving season, the Schuler ranch northwest of
Carter becomes an egg farm.

The eggs are purple and pink and plastic, containing a far more delicious
and wondrous surprise than the standard yolk.

"When you come over the hill, all you see is colored eggs everywhere,"
Kippy Schuler said. "You can see it for miles, it's amazing."

Once a tiny affair for their nieces and nephews, the Schulers began
inviting their friends and neighbors, who invited their friends
and neighbors and now, in its 28th year, the event draws more
than 1,000 people annually.
