Whatever happended to the remake of Disney's "Tron"?

This is one of the few remakes I was actually somewhat enthusiastic about.

I also thought the original was very under-appreciated for what it was, for its time.

But clearly it had problems that could be easily repaired by a good rewrite and modern technology.

But it was a film ahead of its time.

1. The original would have done better if it had come out maybe three years later

I hate to say that it was ahead of its time, though. It was, but that's not the only reason that it's sort of fallen through the cracks.

I'd be interested to see the remake, whenever it shows up!

2. Most people look at the original; call it "cheap".

Nobody has even a rudimentary understanding of how things worked in the past.

In ways, if anything, "Tron" was a remake of "The Wizard of Oz", but a very effective and legitimate innovation from the original (and there are only a handful of basic plot types to begin with...)

I'll have to watch it again; most of the technobabble held up well. Some of it was sci-fantasy (obviously) but I don't recall anything being majorly wrong with the plot...

I'm a big fan of the original and I'd hate to see it ruined. You know they'll ruin it.

10. I used to play the Tron video game, so the movie was cool.

The People Mover ride at Disneyland had a cool Tron sequence in the tunnel.
