WHAT A DEAL, A BIKE WITHOUT WHEELS FOR ONLY $1250.00
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/bik/1122125493.html

This is a 2004 Bianchi San Lorenzo with everything but wheels. The bike is a 57cm and is in good shape. It comes with full DURA ACE 7800 components. Ritchey bars and stem. Fizik Aliante carbon saddle. The components were only used 1 season. I got the frame brand new a few yrs old. Sorry for no pics, my computer is not allowing me to upload pictures. Let me know if you're interested or want to know anything else about it. thanks!

:eyes:

Like I said yesterday, people trying to sell bikes on craigslist are IDIOTS!

1. A Bianchi with Dura-Ace components for that price is a good deal

2. I will take your word for it
I still think it is ridiculous.

3. Aside from the 'used' aspect, he's essentially throwing in a free frame when you buy those parts
Dura-Ace pedals alone cost $200 new, all the other pieces cost between 300 and 400, crank, sprocket, rear cassette, derailleur, and shifters.

5. Actually, a new Dura-Ace crank will set you back closer to $700...

8. Yeah, but a full set of 7800 comps is around $1500, give or take.
The add says the bike is fully rigged.

10. That's what I'm sayin'
The crank is about half of the cost of the bike-sans-wheels....

If the frame is in good shape, then it's probably a pretty fair price.

Personally, I'd love one of these puppies:

15. Unless you're competitive, it doesn't make a lot of sense.
My Sugar has second to the top of the line (at the time) Shimano gear. I couldn't justify spending another $1500 on top of what I was paying for the top of the line Sugar model. I'm a weekend warrior, not a sponsored feature.

16. I am certainly not competitive
I just want to get some exercise and get around, and not worry too much about it being stolen.

18. You're aiming way too high then.
A Bianchi with carbon fiber forks is a little extreme.

You could get a brand new Gary Fisher AR Super* for a grand, and you won't need the goofy racing shoes.

*Very biased Gary Fisher owner here, FYI.

19. Well, I am not considering that bike
I was more making fun of someone actually selling a bike for $1,250 WITHOUT wheels, which I found to be totally ridiculous. I was on craigslist looking for something MUCH cheaper and still decent, preferably with wheels too.

:P

That's probably a competitive price without rims.

13. it would cost more than that for the components alone....
I'd never buy a bike like that without giving it a damn good look-see, but if it's in excellent shape that's likely an excellent price. Certainly not over the top for a top end ride.

17. I'm more troubled by the lack of pictures.
A seller can afford a bike like that but can't upload pictures? I wouldn't buy that without checking receipts. They busted a guy here in Austin who was befriending cyclists, stealing their high dollar bikes, and selling them as components on CL in other towns. I saw a separate case where someone from Ohio spotted their missing bike for sale in Austin. Thiefs steal bikes from all over, then truck them en masse to a different town to sell them.

Don't visit this seller alone, and demand receipts.

23. You're trying to buy a used bike in a cycling town in the spring.
Next time either shop in the winter or look in nearby towns where people don't ride much.
