I ask because my wife completely surprised me with tickets.

I have been to one NFL game and the behavior was aborish. Sorry to sound like that but it was absurd. I would honestly question anyone who would take their kid into that environment.

The game is in DC.

Anyone?

1. Absolutely not
Soccer is a terrible sport and children should not be exposed to it in any way. Go to a baseball game.

2. Depends on where you sit.
If you're on the ends, there might be trouble. At least down here. Mostly just dirty words and people wishing injuries on the opposite side's players.

My kids always have fun, but when I take them I don't sit on the end.

3. Cool.
That makes sense. All the action is on the ends.

4. Yeah, buddy...
I love it down there! :D

Hope you enjoy the game... that's a good team so at least it won't be frustrating and sad like our games are.

5. There are boorish fans at all types of sports
I went to an NFL game when I was fourteen and it was fine. I've had completely rude people sit near me at baseball games and I've had great times a baseball games. From what I hear soccer can be the same way..its not about the sport per se..Its about the alcohol consumption at that game.

7. Seattle has a non-alcoholic section...check the United website
http://www.dcunited.com/

Maybe they have info as to whether certain supporter groups sit in certain sections, which sections are rowdier than others, etc.

8. From what I understand the DC United fans are pretty fun.
It's a very international group going to the games, so there's lots of the traditional soccer face-painting, singing, and whatnot. I haven't been to a United game, but from what I've heard, they have one of the most fun fan bases in the MLS.

Who are they playing? Crew fans got a bad rap last season for shouting racist epithets at some opposing players, but that's the only thing really out of hand I've heard about or seen on TV.

You might want to check to see if United has the text-bad-behavior-to-security program in effect at their stadium. You text the section and approximate seat of the obnoxious person to security, and they come take care of the problem. A lot of MLB and NFL stadiums have started doing this, but I'm not sure about the MLS.

11. I'm impressed with all he jersey's I see at american soccer games.
I've been to MLS and international matches. People come from everywhere. You don't see a common color. You'll see club and country jersey's from just about anywhere.

9. Of course it's safe.
The Redskins are scarier than the DC United. Go to the game and have fun.
