Some Like it Hoth

Suspicions about a possible breach intensify after Ben is taken from the infirmary, and a reluctant Miles is forced to work with Hurley.

2. I watched a movie last night that had two Losties in it
Dan and the Dharma guy who made that videotape from the early episodes (don't know what his name is, but he's been in recent episodes too)

It was a Christian Bale war movie, forgot the name

I know, so what. It's just weird when I see 2 or more actors from a show doing other things together

Hurley-centric episodes: my favorites.

I don;t know what it is about him, but he's simply the coolest guy I can think of. His is the prefect intersection between science and faith on the island, had the hottest (and smartest) woman as his gal-pal, hates his riches, feels guilty about his own indulgences (which compared to those of the rest of the Losties, is not too much to begin with), and to top it off, he totally kicked Sawyer's butt.

Look, I don't know about you, but things have really sucked for me lately, and I could really use a victory. So let's get one, dude! Let's get this car started. Let's look death in the face and say: "Whatever, man!"

19. Wow! I lot of good stuff tonight
We find out more on Miles' gift, discover how he was recruited, the "what lies in the shadow of the statue" pops up again, Sawyer gets busted, Miles finds out daddy loved him, we see the numbers, the hatch being built, and Daniel.

Now I'm going to have to digest everything I just watched. I wonder if the "shadow statue" is Ben's team or a different group entirely. OR, it is Ben's team that turns out to be a third group making it a war between Widmore, Ben, and now Locke. I have no idea.

he's with Ilana (the bounty hunter who arrested Sayid and put him on the plane from L.A. to Guam). Ilana asked Frank Lapidus (the pilot) "what lies in the shadow of the statue" when Frank approached her and since he didn't know the answer, she knocked him out and ordered her friend (guy from the van) to take Frank with them.

Hi,
Well, that certainly was an interesting episode. I'll have to watch it again online to fully digest it. On a side note, I thought the makeup people did a great job aging Sun at the start of the episode, right when I saw her I said to myself I wonder how old the kid is, then he pops on screen.

Another new character introduced even though he was dead?

Why would Sun be looking to rent a little apartment, I thought she had a substantial amount of money?

Peace

32. Its all a dream
Here is the new theory my wife and I are working on

Hurley
everything on the island is connected to Hurley
the hatch numbers were his lottery numbers
Miles is his story lived vicariously
He wasn't at the church when Mrs. Hawkings explained it all to them. Hurley, who is supposedly on the run for murder, just shows up and flies out of LAX--???

The book that Desmond was reading when we first saw him in the hatch was about a Civil War soldier about to be hung from a bridge. In the book (you can find the name of at lostpedia I am sure) the soldier sees the rope break and he escapes and has a grand adventure...until the end of the book when his neck snaps from the hanging-it was just a flash in his brain. This could all be a flash just before Hurley dies in the crash or a psychotic vision.

Hmmmmmmm

43. If that does turn out to be the ending,
I will personally show up on the doorsteps on Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, and punch both of them in the mouth.

I don't think it's going to go down with some big twist. Everything that is happening is definitely real. TPTB have already stated that the series won't end like St. Elsewhere, and it's definitely not Purgatory.

44. The Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce
Haunting story. Bierce was actually a reporter in the Civil War.

I have to say, I hope your theory's not correct. I feel cheated by "it was all a dream" type endings. I think Bierce was probably the last person in the world to be able to get away with that without eyerolls.

I think it is either the current tease of Egyptians (btw Hurley was drawing hieroglyphics earlier in the show-first year I think) or it is Biblical in some way.

as much as the purgatory ending would suck ass. The writers are better than that. Owl Creek Bridge was just a distraction. Just like The Third Policeman that was referenced which is a novel about a guy who is dead and relives the same day over and over.

If it ends with it being Hurley's dream, I'll join the guy above to punch the creators in the mouth.

He was there in the 70s, because he sees a girl who he believed to be Charlotte when she was little. He also is seen in parts of the Dharma Initiative. I'm not sure how he goes from Charlotte's death, to seeing the young Charlotte in the 70s to then arriving on the island as part of Dharma like he did last night. So I think we'll be finding out.

61. I end up visiting lostpedia after every episode
Without lostpedia, I wouldn't be able to keep up.

Daniel Faraday with DHARMA:

http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Faraday

Daniel, along with Sawyer, Juliet, Jin, and Miles, timetraveled to 1974 when Locke moved the frozen wheel. When the rest of the group found Daniel, he was still crying over Charlotte's death, also telling them her body had not travelled with them during the flash. The group were captured by the DHARMA Initiative. While being held, Daniel saw a young girl who he believed was Charlotte. Pretending to be victims of a shipwreck, they all integrated themselves into the DHARMA Initiative. ("LaFleur")

Charlotte suggested that, when she was on the Island as a child, Daniel told her to leave the Island and never return, or else she would die. ("This Place Is Death")

Later, Sawyer told Jack that Daniel was no longer on the Island. ("Namaste")

"Long time, no see." ("Some Like It Hoth")Under unknown circumstances Daniel began working as a scientist for DHARMA, off-Island in Ann Arbor. He returned to the Island in 1977 via the submarine, and upon seeing Miles, said "Long time, no see." ("Some Like It Hoth") At an unknown time Daniel was seen down the Orchid in a construction workers outfit, he passed Pierre Chang in an underground shaft there. ("Because You Left")

:)

Hi,
Is there any way Sun *could* be the mother of Miles?? I know this seems crazy, but this show has so screwed up my brain and what I think I see and don't see and whatever else.
There certainly was a lot of Miles in that episode, as a little boy, as a teen?, and as the Miles in 1977? Ugh, my brain hurts.

Where was Mile's mother from? When she meet his father? Was she ever part of the Dharma project? Grrrrrrrrrr....sorry.

Carry on and peace.

56. I wondered about that too, but they would have to jump through goodness knows...
how many hoops to pull that off. The woman playing Miles' mother could be an older Sun, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how she could be married to Dr. Chang in 1977 with Kim right there. Miles did say he saw his mother behind him in line at the cafeteria. Wouldn't that mean that Sun and Kim would see each other since Kim is there too? On the other hand, I did find it strange that they never showed the woman when Dr. Chang handed off the baby to her towards the end. It's not like these producers/writers couldn't figure out a way that I would find passably plausible. They've done it to me before.
