Good morning Lounge
How are you today? I am a bit tired after I couldn't go to sleep last night. Too much stuff on my mind. But after getting some encouraging words here on DU (thanks y'all - you know who you are) I was able to go to sleep.

Picture of the Day

my plants for the balcony.

1. Mornin', gf!
I hope it's sunny in your part of Central Europe. After a week of GORGEOUS,sunny weather, it began raining late last night and will continue through next Tuesday. x(

The "up" side is that the rain has silenced the lawn mowers and tree trimmers of the holiday home owners who descended on our part of Ticino over Easter weekend with their chainsaws, lawnmowers and Weed Whackers.

The bad weather is moving in today. It is still warm but the rain clouds are coming closer and closer.

Not quiet here today. They are doing some ground work in our "backyard" here at work, paving tiles.

5. Good Morning, Miss Honeychurch!
How you doin'? :hi:

I'm getting ready to take a 14-hour NAP, myself.
Wednsday is the busiest day of the week at my job,
and Thursday is my day off,
the day I take care of PERSONAL things,
so I'll be away from here
for 24 hours or so.

If anyone asks, I was SLEEPING all day.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

You have a good day now, y'hear? :hi:

Key word being "YET".
These things take time.

I hope you have a nice day being all "up and about"
while I'm sleeping until sundown.

I guess I'll see you again sometime early Friday, my time....

Until then: Don't you go changin! :hi:

7. Good morning MissH!
Such beautiful flowers. Must make your patio very welcoming.

Glad that you finally got to sleep last night. What you experienced last night is pretty much the norm for me lately. Just going through a stressful period in my life, and I don't see that lessening anytime soon.

Hope that you're not just too tired at work today.

I love looking out of the window and see the flowers. Also, I noticed last night that one of the tomato plants already has buds :D

I'm not really tired (OK, a bit) but mostly somewhat blue. But that will pass too.

Yes, the blues will pass. I am normally a cheerful person (I think you know that).

Ok, the thing is. I met this guy online on a dating site. So far we have only written emails but what he writes about himself is amazing me. From his intelligent level, over what he is reading, what he is doing for work, what he likes in his spare time ... it sounds like he is someone who could fit me perfectly. And that scares me. I want love but I am scared to give up my guard. That is what kept me from sleeping last night.

24. Ah yes, I can see why
you were restless last night. My advice to you would be to meet this guy soon. It seems like you've been chatting on-line for a while - the get-to-know you stuff, but a nice face-to-face visit in clearly in order now. Once you meet, both of you can decide if the relationship should progress and at what level.

On-line romances can come on fast and furious, but can also end fast. If you've been chatting for a while, it's time to meet.

Well, that's my 1-1/2 cents worth (used to be 2 cents, but you know, inflation and all) ;)

Hang in there and I'll send good relationship vibes your way.

Gotta head out for work, so wishing you a great day.

That was Tuesday and yes I was happy with him. He seems to like everyone just fine and they all seem to like him.

Yesterday was dentist (no cavities) and hair cuts (got a cute one). Today the gang will all be back and we'll have mayhem again. :woohoo:

Oh, and as for Simon ... Most of the time he acts like he doesn't know me at all. But when he's in bed with me, that's another story! As for his brothers ... Serengeti and Sylvester have taken to ripping the screens out of the doors and escaping from the porch while we're not home. Of course, the screens are shit for screens, as you know. We're replacing them with something stronger until we can get new doors. We have their house blocking one of the doors for now.

Oh, you might be wrong about that. I think it's Sylvester's idea. I saw him try it after we put the house there. Serengeti is a follower in that respect. And you almost never see one of them without the other. I found a pic on my old camera (yeah, I'll send it as soon as I have a minute) of them when Serengeti was tiny. I didn't realize then that they really liked each other. I think Sylvester is a big brother in the true sense.

the balcony was south/south-west when I was looking for a place to buy. It is very important for my to have sun on the balcony when I am home. I am not much of a morning or breakfast person, so a sunny morning balcony doesn't bring me anything.

I won't do bird feeder, I can't do that on the ninth floor. The people underneath me wouldn't be too happy about the seeds on their balconies

It was a drug bust...and they sent off one of those smoke flairs. They blocked all the roads goin in and out. It was a sting operation.

Our Boss heard the flair and saw the smoke and road blocks and decided we needed to go into lockdown.

I don't plant anything until after May 15. There is always a chance of frost before then. I am going to try and redo the plantings near my gazebo this spring. There are a lot of ferns growing near the base and they make a perfect nesting spot for ground bees and wasps. Problem is, Egypt is allergic and every time she is stung, I have to get her to the vet ASAP. Soooo..... this year, they get yanked and tossed into the woods to grow out there.

I'm glad you were able to finally get some sleep.

We are chatting tonight, yes? I look forward to it....

35. Good morning malta
yes, we will chat tonight. 5.30pm your time. Looking forward to it too.

Even though it is supposed to get cooler again, I doubt there will be frost anymore. But I took the tomato plants inside last night till I have the big pots for them.

Yes, I like flowers :)

Do you mind? I know you wanna see cars but that is not likely to happen. Nature and buildings are my preferred topics for photography.

52. Checked the result of the last game
of the season, L 9-1. I didn't play because of opening weekend coming up. I'm still the team golden boot for this season with 3 goals. :woohoo:

At least recruiting is easier--we're in the basement, you don't have to be good. :P

44. Good Morning, MissHoneychurch!
I've been awake for 2 or 3 days straight. Never got any sleep. It just didn't work out. I had to cook and clean up and my aunt needed way more help than usual. She wakes me up to come turn her over or move her legs or take the covers off or put them back on at intervals of about 30 minutes the whole time she's in bed. The useless moronic VA won't give me pills to knock her out for a solid 8 hours.

There is no peace.

I'm still awake this many days later, only I lost count how many days that is now.

Yogi wants to post. I can tell. Sooner or later, I'm going to let him make a post. He's so interested in the keyboard and the monitor.

God, I'm tired.

I'm so sleepy.

I did sleep about 30 minutes last night/this morning, then I had to go to the bathroom. Normally, when you get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you can go back to bed. Not me. I cannot.

My aunt woke up while I was in the bathroom and informed me I wasn't going back to bed. She wants to get up in 30 minutes and I am not to go back to sleep.

So, my new day begins 30 minutes after I finally got some sleep. Thirty minutes of sleep in 2 or 3 days.

And the cat is wallowing all over me making it hard to post/type. I have been furred this morning. Normally, I love my cats, but right now I don't love anything too much at all.

I'm trying to stay awake. If I fall asleep, that freaking intercom will give me an instant headache when she uses it. I hate the intercom. I wish my mother had never bought this phone/intercom/thorn in my side for us. I hate it.

I want to kill phones.

Rudest.Invention.Ever.

There MUST be a career where you smash phones for a living, right? I want THAT job.

Sorry to
but I've had no sleep and I turn into a Prime Grade A Asshole when I have had no sleep. I will cook my roast today though, even if I have to do it in a brain tired daze...Somehow, I will cook my roast with all five pounds of carrots. I have been craving roasted carrots for DAYS now. I wish I could roast the carrots to taste the same without the beef roast. I'd go on a carrot diet and stay on it. I do love carrots, even when I'm too sleepy to shut up before I post a book.

How has your morning been?

You sure have a rough morning

Is your aunt living permanently with you? That is quite some responsibility on your side.

I agree with you on carrots. Yummy, especially when roasted. Enjoy your dinner, once you get it cooked :)

69. Yes, she is.
No one else in the family can live with her. She's too ornery for most people to endure. She'll drive you nuts if you don't hole yourself up somewhere in your spare time. She's got her good points too though.

I'm just overly tired right now and intend to cook my roast with carrots and potatoes and onions. All we had yesterday was a scrambled egg sandwich on hamburger buns that weren't fresh. I considered munching on the cats' dry food earlier. I'm starving. We both are. I didn't feel too great yesterday, so we "picked up" dinner, meaning we ate what we could get our hands on that didn't require me to cook more than once.

We'll have slaw and any kind of green beans I can find (in the cabinet with all the canned goods) as side dishes if I can manage to stay awake the whole time I slow cook it. I might doze off some and ask her to wake me if the smoke alarm goes off. I am TIRED, but I want that roast and those carrots so bad I can almost taste them. I just need something in my stomach in the meantime to keep from getting sick from hunger.

You could eat some raw carrots.

May I ask if you are tight on money so you can't buy food? Or just too tired to make breakfast?

83. We are both off schedule for our
regular sleeping times. I usually sleep in the early morning hours from around 6 or 7 until later in the day, maybe 12 or so. That's usually when my aunt wants to get up. I wake up and get her out of bed and help her on the bathroom and then back off again and adjust her so she's comfortable. Then, I help her make some kind of breakfast and go back to bed for a couple of hours.

Up until a couple (or 3, I've lost count) days ago, I was sleeping at night and she was sleeping what normally are my hours. Last night she went to bed around 1 am and I could not sleep because I was up way later than I had been in recent weeks. Something happens to me at midnight. I wake up. If I'm up past midnight, I'm up for the night.

Normally, I'd prefer to be up at night and sleep in the daytime. The heat bothers me and it gets hot during the day. I like to stay still and quiet (in bed or just sitting still) while it's so hot. I overheat too easily.

We are way off schedule now. I had intended to go to the grocery store yesterday and to Wallyworld to pick up a new slow cooker. My old slow cooker actually started rusting from being in storage. My mother sent a stoneware one over, but it's tall and round like a tall cylinder.

It's hard to put a roast of any decent size in it without cutting it up. It takes away from the fun of cooking it and looking at it while it cooks. Plus, it doesn't cook the same way when the meat is buried in the water. I'd rather some water there to keep the moisture in the meat while it tenderizes, but not dowsed in water. When you have to layer the meat in pieces, at least 2 of the three pieces will be under water if the third piece is to get any moisture and cook evenly. I prefer the more oval (not so tall and cylindrical) shaped slow cookers.

I like the meals I cook to be aesthetically pleasing as well as taste good. I hate cooking every day. Anything I can do to make it less unpleasant, the better. I just like to look at a roast surrounded by carrots and potatoes with onions and a dash of pepper garnishing the top. I can't do that in this weird tall slow cooker I have right now.

So, today, I'll be doing it the old fashioned way...in the oven, in a baking dish wrapped in tin foil to hold the moisture in. I know I'm too sleepy to attempt driving 10 miles (one way) to WallyWorld to pick up the new slow cooker I've been saving for.

We are tight on money, but the reason we are hungry right now is just plain circumstances. I just haven't gotten to the grocery store yet because of no sleep or rest for several days straight. I get way off schedule and stressed out over all the major holidays. I should be put in a quiet room out of the way with the pets over holidays. The holidays stress me out way too much.

Our family all of a sudden wants to get all sociable then. Normally, we are not at all like that. The rest of the time, we can't stand each other or anybody else, are antisocial, and don't even attempt to hide it. We normally compare notes on just how much we hate the phones and the doorbell and the sound of cars pulling up in our yards uninvited. I call it the Dread Olympics. Who hates it worse? Something about the holidays brings out the fake niceties in my family. It's tiresome and phony. I hate it. It always stresses me out.

I also go through a mini-depression at the change of the seasons (Not all four, just Spring and Fall). Oddly enough, winter is my happiest season. Most people are more affected by winter as far as SAD goes. I get severe migraines at the change of the seasons from cold to hot. I still have one from the other day. Not to mention the fact that there is a layer of pine pollen a half inch thick all over everything in the yard. I've pulled pollen grains out of both eyes in the last week, big enough to feel like boulders and swell both my eyes almost shut. No health insurance and nothing I've tried OTC has worked yet.

So, add up the stress of the holidays, how that gets my sleeping off schedule, makes me sickly, and the misery (and the thought) of the hot weather coming on, and it wipes me out and makes me overly tired and headachey. We don't really have spring but for maybe 2 weeks, then it's 100 degrees by the second week of May.

I'm just wiped out mentally and physically right now and too sleepy to drive. I do need to get to the grocery store, but I don't want to go hungry. That's never a good idea. When I get hungry, I get grumpy and sickly.

The people that work at the grocery store already don't like to see me come in. My aunt makes the grocery list out. If you can imagine somebody taking a double sized roll of toilet paper and writing a grocery list on that all the way to the cardboard inside, it's similar to what she does.

I usually have to break up the shopping into two trips just because the buggy won't hold all the paper towels, drinking water, and other larger items plus groceries. She has no clue how small the buggies are. She remembers them being huge and holding everything she wanted plus some.

I liked it better when I made out the grocery list and planned the meals. I got out of the grocery store more cheaply and we could eat without me being too tired to even cook it. Now, it's an ordeal.

What's worse is my mother bought my aunt a subscription to the local newspaper. That means the grocery store circulars are in both the Wednesday and the Sunday papers. That means my aunt looks at the sales and thinks they'll actually have that stuff in stock and the shelves will be full.

We all know that's not how those sales really work. Usually, the shelves are empty of that one thing that's on sale. If it's buy one get one free, there is one left by the time I get there.

Just thinking about going to the grocery store is a chore to me any more. I'm so tired. I'm sorry I wrote a book for a post, but it's complicated. It was the only way to explain it.

get your planting started!! I am so happy to see colors after that long winter.

I will throw myself on the couch when I get home, heat me up some leftovers from yesterday and watch TV. That is my plan for the evening.

What are your plans for today?

Off to work and back. Need to go out of town for a memorial service and visit with my collage room mate. Tonight it is laundry, find something to eat, walk the dog and correct papers.
Won't be able to get into the garden until Sunday!
Hope your day is everything you want it to be and more.
