My neighbor ladies who I take to the grocery store every week bought me a new laptop.
It is a Toshiba 17 inch screen with 4 GB/250 notebook, came a with printer.

I so surprised.

It came with Vista which I have never used.

One of the ladies called me to her house, and they were sitting there with the box.

I am looking at the computer, haven't used it yet.

My tech friend will come over tomorrow.

Damn, I am still so surprised.

1. Your first step should be to uninstall Vista.
I've heard nothing good about it.

3. I have heard both good and bad about Vista.
I wouldn't have bought a computer Vista myself but here it is.

6. My laptop came with Vista
I honestly haven't had any problems with it. It's less likely to lock up than XP does on my old desktop.

17. Bad advice
It's one thing for a tech to do it, but I wouldn't suggest someone with a brand new laptop immediately wipe it and have to reinstall all the drivers.

8. They didn't have to get me anything.
I feel kind of funny taking it.

It would have hurt their feelings if I wouldn't have taken it.

7. Uninstall Vista, or ask where they bought it
and go in to exchange it for one without Vista.

Seriously.

Vista was rated the #1 technology disaster / failure of this decade. DON'T USE IT.

In other news, that is exceptionally sweet and kind of them to do that for you. Just beware Vista. It really, truly sucks. Really, truly sucks big time.

Seems you may have been deserving, but even still, a very very nice gesture.

12. Bless their hearts.
A cheaper gift would have OK.

I will take the laptop and we can watch movies.

Good for them and good for you too. Obviously you have been a neighbor in every sense of the word. It's nice to see good people well-treated by other good people. I wish I were your neighbor.
