and not knowing the specific situation and not wanting to suggest false hope if it looks really bad, I want to add this. As someone who lost his mother to cancer 40 years ago, I've tried to follow the gains made in cancer treatment, and all I can say is that situations that used to be thought of as hopeless, are now, in some cases, not necessarily so. on edit, just noticed Kitchenwitch's post, I assume you did too.
