One of these years, I want to take a cruise.
Tell us all about it. Also, I'd like to hear what you think of the night sky. I've always lived in a city and want to go some place where I can see the night sky as our ancestors saw it.

11. The ocean off southern California can be hazy

I went offshore a few months ago and the stars were mediocre.

You want STARS, go to the Sierra or out in the desert. A new moon really helps.

12. The best stars I ever saw....

was in a back-country campsite in Big Bend National Park in SW Texas. Technically it is part of (or at least close to) the Chihuahuan Desert (I think...)... I spent every evening kicked back with a beer and watching the sky...
