MY proof that there is no God.
Okay.

So, last weekend, my brother's boss offered him two tickets to tomorrow's Phillies game. Rob (my brother) gratefully accepted them and asked me to go with him.

Then, on Monday, Harry Kalas died. I wanted to go to the tribute ceremony, which originally was announced as being tonight; so I scrambled around and found tickets on Ebay - a reputable seller from whom I have bought tickets in the past. She mailed them to me, priority mail - due to arrive Thursday or Friday. I asked my brother if he would like to go to the game, and he said yes.

Then, it was announced that there would be TWO tribute days for Harry Kalas (Friday AND Saturday) - so my brother and I were thrilled that we would be there to witness both. Plus, being that we didn't have to pay anymore than face-value for our tickets (because we got our tickets before Kalas' death/before tribute ceremony dates were announced), we didn't go into hock. We felt fortunate.

This morning, my brother calls me and asks me how I would feel about giving up tomorrow's game, so that one of his other coworkers could go - a big Phils fan who loved Harry Kalas. No problem - I feel the guy's pain. So, my brother gives up our tickets for tomorrow.

About two hours ago, I see my mail carrier show up. A stack of mail tossed into my mailbox. NO FUCKING TICKETS. I hop in the Bird and chase down the mail carrier. She searches her Jeep high and low - no envelope. I stopped at my neighbor's house, to see if by some chance, she got my envelope. Nothing.

I email the seller....she actually offered up her phone number so I could speak to her....she contacted USPS to track the envelope; but they told her, that chances of them locating it and getting it to me in time, are slim to none.

Waaahhhhh!!!!!

I went from going to BOTH GAMES - to NO GAMES. I'm pissed, my brother's pissed.....and so, you will be able to find us at some sports bar, watching both games from the outside. :(

Sorry for the rant, but I'm seriously bummed.

1. I am so sorry for this,
a situation which truly sucks.

But, consider a lesson learned. I, too, learned the hard way: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER trust the USPS with anything that you want in a hurry. FedEx, fine, but USPS will screw you every damn time.

I found this out in a situation much like yours.

I'm so sorry ...............................

5. Thanks, honey.
The seller is pretty upset, too. She's got a perfect feedback rating on Ebay. PERFECT. Never had a problem in the past with Priority Mail.

I imagine that this experience has her rethinking her shipping provider for future sales.

3. Have her contact the Phillies,
the tickets are bar coded so they may be able to reissue the tix and cancel the originals. You could pick them at at will call if they could be reproduced.

4. Ugh. I just called the seller again.
She isn't sure what seat numbers they are. She knows the section and row, but not the seat numbers. Apparently, her husband owns a large block of seats and offers them to colleagues when they're in town. Whatever tickets don't get picked up, they sell. She said it would take forever to contact all the employees - as well as the people she already sold the other tickets to - to find out who has what seats. UGH. UGH UGH UGH.

Thanks, PRETZEL, for that info. I had never even thought of that - and it probably would have worked, too. If I had the seat numbers. :(

17. I don't think so.
The memorial is in the morning - 8am to 12:45pm they allow anybody to come in and observe his casket, which is going to be at homeplate. At 1pm, the ceremony begins. The game isn't until 7:05pm - which allows them time to clean the place out.

I'm gonna check to make sure, though.

6. USPS + Event Tickets = Fustercluck
I ordered tickets to a concert from TicketMaster some years back (before e-tickets and such) and they were to come via USPS. The date was a good month and a half out, so I had no worries about it... Got tied up with final exams and studying, and forgot about it until the week of the concert and the tix hadn't arrived. Called Ticketmaster, who confirmed that they had, indeed, been mailed and if they didn't show up by the day of the show to call them to get a verification number and I could go pick up duplicates at an outlet.

Day before the concert, I camp out in the front yard to catch the mail truck. I explain the situation to the driver and he seems befuddled and starts looking around the truck. Then, he magically pulls an envelope from the door pocket of the truck and "zOMG!!!! I found them!!! How did they get there????" :banghead:

At the time, they were required to get a signature for the tickets, and he didn't feel like taking the time to bring them to the door.

8. Jeez.
That's exactly why I chased down her Jeep today....wondering if somehow she lost them in there. And that's also the reason why I went to my neighbor's house - because this wouldn't be the first time she has gotten my mail, or I, hers.

This sucks.

15. Nope.
I've seen that before - it's not all that uncommon. Especially when they have a block of tix to sell.

If the seller was someone that had questionable feedback, or someone that I haven't done business with in the past, I would be questioning this; but being that she has a PERFECT rating, has been doing this for several years, gave me her phone number, and is running around trying to straighten this out....I know this was just a USPS fuck-up.
