Should I do anything about "Elevator Kitty"?
Sister-in-law has a cat in her apartment complex who loves going into elevators (always at the last minute) and go up, then go down. The cat seems happy, and she/he's fed well by the residents. But is there a cause for concern here?

Should I catch Elevator Kitty and get him or her neutered or something?

1. Yes, Elevator Kitty Should be Neutered
Is the elevator inside the building? Or does this cat go outside, etc.? He obviously knows how to keep from getting stuck in the elevator door, right?

It would be best to get the kitty fixed and also vaccinated. It's sweet that the residents take care of him. Would one of them consider giving him a permanent home?

2. AFAIK The cat is a lone "wolf"
She or he has the run of the place, and if one of them adopted her/him the cat would just wander around

The cat is smart enough not to venture away from the complex, and stays either in the halls or the courtyard.

3. Sometimes they find their spots
And do quite well in them.

It would still be a wonderful thing to get elevator kitty spayed or neutered and vaccinated. That way, if elevator kitty is female, there won't be kittens born on Floor Number 1.

If elevator kitty is male, he won't be adding to the cat overpopulation if he happens to see a female kitty going to the Penthouse...if you know what I mean!

In any event, it is always heartwarming to me when I see mere humans come together to care for a kitty. The residents must be nice people.

4. They're all good
Even the kids love Elevator Kitty, although she freaks them out when she shoots into the 'vator last minute (no one wants EK crushed)

Who knows, EK could already be fixed - I dunno

All I know is EK loves Elevators, and rides them any chance he/she gets

5. Enroll her in flight school
She loves the sensation of going up and coming down again. The elevator is a poor substitute for an airplane.

6. Yes, I'd say definitely get him/her fixed. Also ...
does EK have access to a steady supply of water and food?

Thanks for helping! :hi:

7. Yes he/she does

The residents feed him/her and he/she kind of floats from apartment to apartment

For all I know, he/she could be already fixed.

She likes to hang around in the courtyard, or in the halls.

But especially elevators. She loves catching elevators when they come by. It's hilarious in a way.

If she sees someone come in, she follows them to the elevator, and then goes in, sits and waits.

Then she runs out and explores.
