Actually, I got the "iggorant" from Al Capp's story of the Shmoo, when Mammy Yokum
said it was a shame that the U.S. Government needed help from "a iggorant old bat
like me" to help them out of a dire "predicament," which happened to be universal
elimination of hunger and material need, That story is over 60 years old now, older
than I am, even. My dad introduced it to me when I was a kid, and even then his copy
was pretty tattered. It was one of the most devastating satires on American society
I have ever seen to this day. Too bad most people today have never heard of it.
