2. Acai Berry is a great thing
For it's antioxidant properties. I'd think that as a weight loos tool, it's a scam.

3. I'd avoid any "something something diet" geared towards losing weight.

Along with the "miracle ingredient" it's based around. Most of it is just garbage.

4. Couldn't say, but somebody must be buying into it
Just stayed in a hotel with a bunch of sales reps for this product: http://www.monavie.com/Web/US/en/index.dhtml

They seemed very...er...well to do. To say the least. (Expensive hotel, product label stuck on all manner of high-end vehicles, etc.)

6. I was always curious why you can't just buy the berries somewhere.
You know, why don't you ever see them in the grocery store?

It seems that the berries spoil easily, so you can't get them unless you're in the area they are grown. So all of these companies whipping up and hawking acai supplements are right there in Central and South America? I'm skeptical.

8. You should be.
Since all they have to do is put a small disclaimer on their label for legal reasons, they can pretty much stick whatever they want in their mixtures. Probably is just some random berry. These kinds of things are usually ripoffs.

16. Well, if you get the juice, the taste is pretty unusual
I think it's a good supplement for the antioxidant properties, but I think using it as a diet pill is bullshit.

9. I have frozen Acai berries in the freezer
well, I did.

*sigh* fridge is on the fritz and waiting for a repairman. x( :P

I use them in fruit/protein smoothies in the summer when it's too hot to cook, they aren't overly sweet.

But to have as a whole diet, no. You're better off eating a variety of whole foods.

12. I drink acai berry juice every day, because it tastes good.
They sell it at school. I love the flavor of it.

Unfortunately, I am still fat. I'd say any weight-loss claim is bunk.

14. My wife bought some as part of a "program" with some mushroom
"essence". The deal was you had to buy so much of each per month minimum, convince others how great this stuff was and get them to buy it, eventually becoming an official seller - a pyramid sales deal.
She lost weight - nearly $400 an order/month from her wallet.

It is a scam. I have no idea what the actual content of any of these products really is, and when I google this stuff, I get testimonials from sales people stating how much money they are making.

We got phone calls from her "dealer" every week - he is in Oregon somewhere - till she told him to forget it.
