I HATE MATH SO MUCH!!!
I am getting ready to take classes to get ready for my GED test and I do well on everything but math. I am at a 12th grade reading and grammar rating but only a 9th grade math. Why does math have to be so hard.

1. Math sucks.
Who needs to add anyway? That's what calculators are for! :)

then I was lucky enough to get a prof I could understand in College and it suddenly made sense, and was easy from that point forward.

edit: if you have questions, feel free to ask.

6. In CT they expected HS seniors be up to pre-calc...
I can't do pre-calculus so I had to stay in school. (Seriously, I didn't drop out because I wouldn't have passed the GED...so instead I graduated with my geometry, algebra and consumer-math classes to meet the math requirement. I wonder if that's an insidious plot to keep people from dropping out. Really...how many people can do pre-calculus or calculus?)

7. consumer math classes??
is that learning how to balance a checkbook and useful things like that. i really feel all high school seniors should have basic skills like that before they graduate.

8. Yeah...

balancing a checkbook, making change, figuring out whether the 20oz jar of peanut butter for $4 is a better deal than the 12oz. jar for $2.50, task-scheduling ("If process A takes 20 minutes and must finish before proceed D which takes 32 minutes can begin; process B takes 15 minutes and process C takes 60 minutes and both processes must start simultaneously; no more than two processes can run at one time...what is the shortest period of time that all four processes may be completed within?"), word-problems, basic logic problems (i.e. Sudoku puzzles), determining the most efficient route for completing deliveries.

There was some other stuff. It was really obvious and easy. I'm actually good at math...or was until I got to pre-calc and hit a wall. I have taken calc twice and sat down with a textbook and gone at my own pace over a two-year span...and I still can't even begin to go calculus.

9. Good Luck, Dude!!!
And congratulations for going for your GED! I quit school in the 9th grade and it was absolute hell trying to grasp HS and college algebra, but I did it and now have a college degree. Keep trying and eventually it will all come together
