Apple's iCrap still can't touch Blackberry sales
Apple's CEO Steve Jobs made a surprise appearance on the company's earnings call in October to declare that "Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) outsold RIM." But the company hasn't been able to brag about that since, including today when it announced its latest iPhone figures.

To be sure, the company's second-quarter results posted today were strong, and to date, it has sold a respectable 21 million iPhones; and will hit 1 billion downloads from the App store in the next few hours. But iPhone sales for the past two quarters have not been able to touch the volumes experienced by Research In Motion's BlackBerry.

Here's the breakdown:

In Apple's Q4, it sold 6.9 million iPhones, beating RIM's 6.1 million phones. In Apple's Q1, it sold 4.36 million iPhones, or less than RIM's 6.7 million phones.?In Apple's Q2, it said today it sold 3.79 million iPhones, or less than half of RIM's 7.8 million sales.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/22/AR2009042203428.html

Looks like the general public has figured out flashy tap and pray pieces of shit don't compare to the real world functionality of the Blackberry. Have fun with your fart apps, though. That's a great selling point for Apple's flavor of the week.

and I will not care because I have an iPhone.

:P

Actually, one of the reasons I have an iPhone is because I also have Apple computers, and no other device syncs as easily as the iPhone with them, and all their data.

12. Interesting...
why all the hate for the "iCrap" then? I have one and I find it far easier to use than my roomie's Blackberry. One look at the sorry excuse for a website one gets when attempting to access the internet on those things and I have a sudden rush of fondness for my iPhone.

16. It's overpriced
You have to marry AT&T.

The touch screen sucks.

It can't be upgraded with storage.

You can't even take out the battery.

Initial functionality issues like 'cut and paste' required two years before Apple provided a solution.

Iphonians are easy to set off.

I would suggest your roommate upgrade his OS. I'll admit the initial html browser installed on my BB was total crap. The latest OS upgrade fixed nearly all my issues I had with the Blackberry, including web browsing.

18. iPhone is overpriced?
Hahaha. Really? My roomie recently dropped her Blackberry in a water puddle, thinking she'd have to replace it, she did some research...without the benefit of a cell plan upgrade or signing a new contract, her new Blackberry was going to cost her nearly twice that of a new iPhone. Yes, Blackberries are cheaper when purchased with a new cell contract or an upgrade. Otherwise, that's entirely false.

Does the iPhone have issues? Yes. Does it have functionality that could be upgraded? Absolutely. Is Blackberry the be all end all of cell phones? Absolutely not. I think that each phone has issues and people can decide for themselves what functionality is most important to them and buy accordingly. What I absolutely do not get is the vitriol that you spewed against the iPhone in your OP. Do you REALLY care that much?

So Blackberry outsold the iPhone last quarter. Who the hell cares? I mean, seriously? Does it prove that Blackberry is superior? Eh, more people bought it one quarter...but half the country also "bought" George Bush. So I'm not thinking that's the best measure. And yes, clearly I could have ignored your OP, but I always find it fascinating when people get so completely worked up over their hatred of a piece of electronic equipment.

The Agony of 'BlackBerry Thumb'
Associated Press 10.21.05
Chris Claypool was addicted to his BlackBerry wireless handheld. Like many users, he never thought twice about pecking away at lightning speed, replying to a wave of e-mails from clients around the globe. Last year, the 37-year-old agricultural sales director from Post Falls, Idaho, noticed a throbbing sensation in this thumbs whenever he typed.

He switched to tapping with his index finger, then his middle digit and finally his pinky. But his thumbs pained him to the point where he can't even press the buttons on his TV remote control.

After months of aching, Claypool took a break. Now he only uses his BlackBerry to send short messages — typing with the tip of a pencil eraser whenever his thumbs get sore.

"It affects business because I can't whack away on my BlackBerry like I used to," he said. "It's just too painful."

Call me back when the iphone causes PHYSICAL damage.

29. Symarip thinks in strict polarities
To be for something in his world, one must be just as firmly against something else. Where most people see shades of gray, he sees only 2 Tone.

When I bought a new cell phone in December, I was toying with getting the iPhone or the BlackBerry Storm. I'm so glad I chose my Storm. Granted there need to be some major OS upgrades, I'm overall more thrilled with the Storm than I would have been with the iCrap. First of all, I did NOT want to be another victim to AT&T. Second, I needed a phone that pushed email. The BlackBerry can do that, and do it very well. Third, I use my phone a lot, so I needed to be able to switch batteries when one was low. You can't do that with the iCrap. Hell, if you need a new battery for that phone, you'd have to send it in and get it replaced! :wtf:

I chose real-world need over hype, and I never looked back.
