There is only one correct response.

1. If a thread of my plummets, it still tells me a lot about what people think about an issue.
What really bothers me is when someone else posts a fascinating thread that doesn't catch fire and drops like a rock.

I'll kick it a couple times, and if it drops again it always makes me sad.

A lot of fascinating topics by other people have vanished without a trace.

2. This is true.
And this is why I copiously use the hide-a-thread function.

3. That I spent a lot of time thinking of that to have it drop like a stone

meanwhile my most hastily-written, poorly-thought-out threads get lots of replies.

4. My dear Bossy Monkey...
Mostly, I feel rejected.

Sad too...

And as CreekDog said, after I spent some time composing the damn thing.

Usually, after I kick it, it'll get some responses...

:-(

:wtf:

5. Generally a bit surprised, I just figure that if it interests me
that at least somebody else would find it interesting.

What gets to me is when I post an article that nobody responds to, and then somebody else posts the exact same article and it catches fire.

8. Unpopular
But that's where all my threads head.

Story of my life...my tombstone is going to read: DELETED BEFORE READING.

10. Doesn't bother me.
There's so many threads on so many topics that it's easy to just skim by things that don't grab you. Plus, I rarely have any opinion that I feel everyone should hear anyways. Usually it's just the opposite. 99% of the threads I start is just news stories, without any comment from me.

I also think a lot of threads on important things sink because everyone agrees. Not many people will post, "yes, I agree" in response. In other words, there are some threads that are very good, but almost don't need to be said here because so many agree anyways.
