How come dogs never suck in their guts?

I was just exploring my dog's belly for any evidence of fleas (none! yay) and I noticed that she just didn't care when I observed to her that she's getting a belly and she'd better be careful.

Not an ounce of self-consciousness about it!

And then I thought about all other dogs and realized that I've never once witnessed one who tried to hide how fat they were!

Isn't that weird?

What about cats?

One of mine in particular has a definite gut, though you don't really notice it on account of the fur. But cats were once worshiped as gods, and they have not forgotten this. So your flabby tabby really doesn't give a cat's ass about a little extra lard.
