Where can I get a set of Tinker Toys?
Will Toys 'R Us have them? I need them for a knitting/spinning project.

3. I'll check them online first
Although, there are some local indy toy shops that might have them too.

5. You're building a swift!
I'm a spinner myself and I lucked into a full tinker toy set at the local Salvation Army store-(you need the large size set)and, yes it works fine!
Check this place out to maybe find a "real" swift...http://www.kbbspin.org/

6. Yes I am!
I figure I've spent an obscene amount of $$ on yarn, fiber, tools, and accessories lately, that I can hold off on the $75-$1000 range swifts. For now. :P

8. It holds a skein of yarn so you can wind it
into a yarn ball or cone, otherwise you have to ask someone to hold up their hands to keep it stretched out...don't feel ignorant, textile stuff seems almost a lost art. BUT I think we're going to be re-learning it :D
see photo and explanation here http://www.dsz123.net/Projects/YarnSwift/
