I learned more than I ever cared to today. And, PM's are not getting through. And,
fuck the flame wars.

And, it's booming up a fucking storm here today.(My dog is scared.)

And, my dog is getting old.

And, dog is having accidents.

And, he's not himself anymore.

And, I'm really hating the idea that I might have to consider him ready to put down.

And, stop hating each other, people. It's just a message board.

And, life is too short. Really, it is.

And, consider those you see today, might not be here tomorrow.

And, live today like it will be your last day.

And, give a shit whether you live another day. (I don't)

And, be nice to the mods, be nice in traffic, open doors for people, even if they don't thank you. It's good karma.

And, well just be nice ....

7. Your OP is excellent and well taken, but I am a little worried for you.
If you are going through a bad time right now...please try to remember that these times are usually temporary.

If you are suffering from depression, would you please try to get some help?

Lil Missy, if you are worried for your dog, I understand this so well. I know exactly how bad I am going to feel when the time comes...but I look at it this way...the best we can do is to love them like crazy while they are alive, and to give them a great life. If we do this, then we can be proud.

Please take care of yourself.

14. I know the depressions are temporary. And the dog, as well as my son, have, or had, a happy life.
I'm just tired now.

I have a couple friends who are looking out for me right now and keeping tabs on me. As if they don't have their own problems. *groan* But if they are willing to help, I will try.

He's just getting old, and needs more cares now. I don't think it will happen soon, but it's enough that I'm preparing myself.

There is no way I'd ever part with him. I'll see him to the end. He was faithfully with me through my worst times, and I'll return the same to him. But thank you for the offer, that was really nice of you.

But I so rarely recieve emails or PMs I have assumed they are blocked or rerouted.

even after 1000s of post on a few different sites, I recieve no non 'mailing list' emails, and almost no PMs.

Doesn't matter to me, I have a few guesses why this might happen...

either way, I like public post better anyway :)

19. First, I'm sorry about the dog
Second, I don't hate you. I don't hate anyone. I have, however, decided to make extensive use of the "ignore" feature

Third, three lines you have here, as an aggregated sequence, concern me:

<<And, consider those you see today, might not be here tomorrow.

And, live today like it will be your last day.

And, give a shit whether you live another day. (I don't)>>

I can read that last bit two ways. You might be saying that "I should care whether I live, because you don't care whether I live." If that is true, so be it -- it's not your job to care about me. If, on the other hand, you are saying "I should care whether I live, because you don't care whether you live", please take care of yourself, and realize that you are a valued person -- even if that is coming from persons who only know you in cyberspace. I think most here would miss you.

24. Some people forget that there's another person
on that other keyboard, and say things that are hurtful or merely callous. I don't understand that mind set myself, but I try not to take it too personally when it happens.

My dog is getting really old as well. She's lost most of her hair, and now needs to go out every two hours to avoid accidents. But she still enjoys the hugs and the treats. I'm no spring chicken myself, so I can empathize.

In the meantime, here's a hug. You can never get too many hugs.

30. We find wisdom the hard way,
don't we? You're smart and wise and very nice.

Losing is hard. Only people who've lost big, as you apparently have, know how hard it is. Sadly, I know.

When my best friend, she was named Happy, was sick and wasn't going to get better, I sat on the floor at the vet's office and held her in my arms as she was relieved of her pain. Her eyes were locked onto mine, and it is still one of the moments in my life when I knew I was doing that absolute right thing, the best thing I could ever do for someone who had never let me down.

I'll just hold you in my heart a little bit for now, and wish you strength and love.........................

It was hard to read your words about holding and sending Happy off, with love.

I did that with my son; held him and told him it was okay to let go. He just couldn't help it, and I didn't want him to struggle anymore. Hardest fucking thing I've ever done in my life. And the most devastating.

I don't ever want to go through that again. I think I'll just go numb if the pooch dies. I can't stand another one.

You have been through a lot, more than most people have.

I hope you can gather strength from the fact that you were able to survive it.

I know this is only cyberland, but here is a heartfelt hug for you  , and one for your puppy

My dog has some sort of pathology in her nose that is giving her nose bleeds and hampering her breathing. It is most likely cancer, and the vet said that the surgery is worse than just letting nature take its course. She had a difficult time breathing today, so I put on the central air, and that seemed to help her considerably.

Just do the best you can Lil Missy. I'll be thinking about you.

50. One of my dogs is nearly 15.
A rescue also and a big, beautiful sweetheart.

She is scared of storms too now - I find benadryl or melatonin works well.

Showing some signs of doggie Alzheimer's and has had an accident or two. I just clean it up and tell her it's OK, because I know she would never do that if she could help it.

I had to put two to sleep years ago and have vowed not to do that this time, if I can possibly help it; only if she is in obvious discomfort.

But she is still loving life and going for her walks, enjoying food.

Look into vets who will come to your house; that is what I did with my last two old girls. So they died at home surrounded by their cat and human family.

Hang in there.

51. I can't imagine the vet coming here, but I've never asked about that.
My pooch is really pretty spry, so I don't think I'll have to deal with this anytime soon.

It's just that his anal glands need to be squoze more often, and he is having pissing episodes that he doesn't even ask to go outside. If I'm not around, my mother is, and just goes to piss in the kitchen. (thank god not on the carpet.)

My mother flips out when he does this, and smacks him. He comes running to me for protection, LOL! But I feel like I have to teach both of them. First of all, I don't want her hitting him. And second, I run his ass outside when that happens, because I want him to know he has to go outside for that.

I just think he is getting old. Hell, my bladder is not as good as it used to be either. I'm just fearing this age thing with him. He's been my best friend through "sick and sin". I'm just afraid, and preparing myself. I really cannot stand another loss right now. Not now.
