Anyone have recommendations for a good non-alcoholic beer?
I had some non-alcoholic wheat beer, it was pretty good.

1. Avoid O'Doul's.
Sharps is better and won't give you a hangover like everything else Anheuser-Busch makes.

2. I shouldn't post in this thread. My view is: what's the point of non-alcoholic whatever?!1
O.K., for those who want to match alcoholism with non-alcoholic beer, fine.

For me, it ain't about TASTE. But I'm sure we know that.

8. Speaking as a former beer snob (and trained cellarman) who cannot drink anymore for health reasons
I miss having a decent pint. So far, I have not found an NA/LA beer in this country to match what I used to tend to when I lived in the UK. However, some are tolerable.

Beer is an interesting, beguiling concoction. Most people don't drink it just to get drunk (that's why there's Vodka). Beer is much more than a stupid drunk to many people.

10. I once had the most amazing wheat beer imported from Germany
for an Oktoberfest celebration here in NYC. I wish I kept the label. I've never had anything nearly that good since.

It was the only NA beer I've ever had that was really a wonderful work of art in a glass.

Every other NA beer I've tried is, at best, just something to have when out with friends when the only other alternative is soda. (I really don't like drinking soda.)

12. Clausthaler and St. Pauli Girl NA
Both taste like a light, crisp "real" beer. St. Pauli Girl is slightly sweeter.

20. Molson used to make a good NA beer
If you are going to drink beer without the alcohol, you can't go wrong with Molson (if they still make it)!

25. CM5's as 'puter speakers? Very nice!
I don't know if you recall, but I once told you about the Nautilus 800s I got for a steal from a buddy who was cash-strapped. I always told him I was just renting them and, when he was back on his feet, I'd sell them back at cost. Well, he went and turned everything around (huzzah!) and I sold them back last year (sigh). I did use the cash wisely, though, as I totally refurbed a suite of six Phase Technology PC-65s for the basement theater (and still had a ton of cash left over)!

26. I do remember that
I am glad your friend got back on his feet, even though it cost you your beautiful nautilus's.

I am using the CM5s connected to my computer through a benchmark DAC1 Pre and then to a VTL ST85 amp, along with all my CDs in iTunes in lossless AIFF format, it sounds pretty good, in-fact I am listening to the Cartalk podcast right now.

With my current living situation, the huge 802Ds are a bit too much, according to my neighbors.

29. I've tried them all and the answer is going to shock you...
Old Milwaukee. Red can. Best of show.

I can't STAND their regular beer - I call it "Old Mill water" - but the N/A actually tastes like beer AND has the right carbonation level.

Next in line is American (least expensive also), and then Molson. The Busch N/A isn't terrible and O'Doul's is possible to drink (and it is usually all that is available), but go light on it or it will give you the shits.

Most of the others are "fruity" or something - they just don't taste like beer - and the expensive ones like Clausthaler and Kaliber are the worst.

31. There's only one that tastes like beer
And that's Od Milwaukee. I know their regular beer is crap. But their NA is the only one that's actually brewed and fermented like regular beer. Then they remove the alcohol after it's brewed. And I've tried a lot of them. They all taste like shit.
