Any one else do Yoga?
I do it twice a week and am looking into adding an evening class. Yoga centers are popping up all over here and I think I would like to do the high heat yoga or the relaxation yoga.

the one I do now is at my gym its called power yoga... lots of warrior poses and downward facing dog...
I can not do hovering plank to save my life.... but I'm trying!
It's hard but I am always upset when its over :* (go figure)

so if you do yoga what kind do you do and how often???
I know that evening yoga is the best especially if you can go home and go right to bed.

thanks

2. Evening yoga is best?
I used to do it first thing in the morning and I loved it... but I quit a couple of years ago. I need to start doing it again.

I just did it at home though... used a TV show called Inhale.

5. Ooh you just answered a question I had before I even posted it
I used to to traditional yoga to a VHS tape (how quaint, right?); now I have a different yoga DVD that I don't like as much. It's good, but I think I'm going to need more variety. So I was going to ask if there were any yoga TV shows out there good enough for a TiVo season pass. Is Inhale a worthy candidate?

7. Oh yes... I love it.
The guy leading the session... well I think he has a good sense of humor at least.

And there's guys in the class too, and people at all skill-levels... I really enjoyed it.

This thread is motivating me to start up again. Woo! :)

8. Saw your other post about it--now I have to see whether we have Oxygen
We switched from satellite to cable and I'm not sure I'm entirely pleased with the changes. Hope we do have Oxygen...

6. It keeps me saner. I started yoga last year.
I like hatha yoga, and this spring I've been going to kundalini yoga classes. I love the kundalini yoga, but I miss the physicality of hatha practice.

If I would do it at home it would be so much better, but I have a hard time claiming the time/space for myself to go do some sun saltuations for 2o minutes. I'm also self-conscious about tuning in when my husband and son are home.

I love restorative yoga classes. Yoga nidra (relaxation yoga) puts me to sleep - and teachers don't like that!

9. Not as often as I should
I took a class at school quarter before last and loved it. Vowed I would keep it up but I haven't been able to make myself do it regularly - there's always something else pressing. I really should, though, because it made me feel great. It sounds like your class is similar to what we were doing - challenging but it really made me feel wonderful.

10. I do!
I do it once a week but do other exercises the rest of the week. I suppose you could call what we do "power yoga."
The class is an hour, but we probably spend 50 minutes doing all of the poses you mentioned and more!
Hovering plank is very hard! My stomach always touches the floor when it shouldn't. (says something about me...)

After about 9 months of consistent yoga practice, I can now do many of the poses I couldn't do before - side pank, camel, and a few others.

11. Hatha yoga since 1970
I used to practice in the evenings before bed, but that was when I was working. Since being retired, I practice in the late afternoon, I finish about one hour before making dinner. I try to practice 5 or 6 times per week and I try to do one hour including meditation. Even if it's just a shortened routine, I still try to do something.

14. We have early morning yoga
at the office twice a week, at 7:30. One of my colleagues was recently certified as an instructor and wants to keep up her practice, so we all benefit, for free! I am NOT an early morning person but I find it more relaxing and energizing (weird how yoga makes me feel BOTH) than sleeping in another hour or so. It's really fantastic. On the mornings we don't have yoga, I try to get up on my own and just do three full round of sun salutations, taking different variations; I find it's a really lovely way to start the day.

I did hot yoga once, and wasn't really that into it, though I know people who swear by it. I just found I couldn't concentrate on my breathing or my poses because I was too worried about throwing up and/or passing out.
