I do it to prevent germ buildup. Is there some reason I shouldn't? I do change the listerine frequently.

1. Unless I've wandered into a copycat thread....
You are contaminating the listerine every time you put the toothbrush in there...from the germs on the toothbrush, to the germs on your hand fishing it out of the bottle each time. You'd be better off just rinsing the toothbrush with a stream of listerine each time, or runninig it under extremely hot water. Replacing your toothbrush every month and every time after you've been sick will cut down on the germ build up, too. :hi:

3. Nobody else uses it
and that bottle is just for that toothbrush, and no, that is not the listerine I use for myself even...

Geez, give me some credit here, I am not a total idiot.

5. Okay...
I use everclear for that purpose. Not every day or all the time but if it falls on the floor or ends up bristles-down somewhere, it gets a dunking in a shotglass and a rinse in the sink before it goes back in my mouth.

9. That would work to I guess
The way I see it is, I would use the same amount doing that, that I use doing this, and changing it once a week. Listerine is supposed to KILL germs, so it should not be a problem of building up germs, or contaminating the Listerine.

10. If you store it in the bathroom, it's probably a good idea.
The fecal matter that is sprayed into the air everytime you flush is enough to make you gag. And, keeping the lid down does no good. As soon as you lift it up, the microscopic spray goes everywhere. :puke:

We have these little electric white light things that encase our toothbrushes. Works well for when someone has a cold, too.

12. Damn. I felt anal-retentive for washing mine after I found the cat licking it.
I do replace them frequently, though--my current toothbrush is only three years old.

15. my ex's daughter was funny about this. she would get grossed out...
...if the foods on her plate touched the other foods on her plate. she also hated sharing food, especially if you used the same fork.

but she would lay her toothbrush down on the (not all that clean) sink just behind the faucet where every splatter could and often did reach. it was just bizarre to me.
