Good things really do happen to good people
Good evening all..I just got off the phone with a colleague...After weeks/months of waiting she was just informed that she's going to get a promotion!!!I'm really happy for her. In a male-dominated industry that relies on the buddy-system she gets the job!!!It's about damn time people start getting promoted on the basis of competence!!!Sign in and wish her well...:woohoo:

2. congrats to your colleague, but...
I don't see a lot of proof of your subject line.

My wife...who I think is good people, has been un-or-underemployed for more than 8 years, and a good friend of mine, who I also think is good people, recently lost her job, and is having a tough time finding another.

Sorry if I'm a little bitter about the $#!^^& economy.

Still, it's good to see someone have something good happen.

4. Congrats and all...
but male dominated has not been my experience in programming.

I've had 2 male bosses in my working career, and more than half a dozen female bosses.

Truth be told, my female bosses have been the better ones, bar none.

In programming, at least, females are better leaders.

PS: I've been a programmer now for over 30 years...
