1. Man I was feeling the body aches yesterday and thought I had the swine flu
but honestly - it was from exerting myself with my new Wii. I was bowling and playing tennis - my whole right side hurts.

2. Justin and Ian have a Wii and I've done the bowling and tennis.
One night, I thought I was going to throw out my arm doing the bowling. Yikes.

I had been trying to be blissfully ignorant to this flu thing, but apparently several school districts in our area are having meetings this week about potential shutdowns. Serious shit. :scared:

6. No Kidding....
I have my son this weekend, and I am starting to wonder if I should call my X and postpone my time with him since I was in Mexico last week. I don't have any symptoms or anything, but just to be safe... I know I'd not be able to live with myself if I got him sick....

:scared:

8. Oh, man.
You've been home for how long now? And you're feeling okay, yes? How is your SO?

9. I've been home since Saturday....
The last time we were actually in Mexico was Wednesday (the last two days were at sea).

I'm not sick and neither is John...

Tell ya what, though- In Mazatlan, they upgraded our excursion to include the option of a horseback ride along the beach. John and I declined, saying that we'd just rather lay on the beach and drink beer. VERY glad of that decision!

5. My one friend is like I can't believe I'm getting shipped home only to be greeted with swine flu
Iraq vs. Swine Flu.

That could be a movie on the SciFi channel.

10. I'm not sure yet
He was home a few weeks ago on leave, then got sent back to Iraq, and according to his facebook page, it looks like he's coming home again. I haven't heard when yet exactly. Then, he goes back to Ft. Wainwright in September and hopefully gets out for good in December.

He was supposed to be out last December, but he got stoplossed and sent back for a third tour.

11. I get so angry when I hear these stories about the stop loss bullshit.
When you see him, give him a big hug for me, will ya? They've been through enough already.

12. I will
He can't wait to get out. He knew the war was a sham from Day 1. He signed up for the army because he got out of school with a ton of loans, and couldn't find a job making enough to pay them back, which is ridiculous in and of itself.

13. My cousin went into Army basic in the summer of 2001.
My aunt and uncle couldn't afford to pay for all of his college education - so he figured he would join the Army Reserves to take the stress off of them. Why not, right? We weren't at war with anybody.

He got done basic on August 23, 2001. Moved up to Rutgers right after.

Less than 3 weeks later, they had him stationed on a street corner in Manhattan, directing emergency personnel to the various makeshift morgues they needed to take the 9/11 victims.

He was very much in support for the war in Afghanistan, but he wasn't needed. When the Iraq war began, he got scared. He knew that who we had running the White House was up to no good.

He luckily managed to stay based in Heidelberg, Germany, for two years. And yes - he feels VERY lucky.

14. Wow that sucks
At least Germany is a pretty decent place to be stationed. He got really lucky.

Did he ever manage to get to college?
