Why did the USPS only do 5 Simpsons characters on the stamps?

Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie... yeah, we get it.

But with so many favorite supporting characters, they could have just as easily filled a sheet of 20 stamps and sold 4 times as many to collectors and Simpsons fans. It would have been worth framing even!

No wonder the USPS is in the red...

The next 15 are easy, even if you combine a few folks... Monty Burns, Smithers, the Flanderses, Barny/Carl/Lenny, Moe, Chief Wiggum/Ralph Wiggum, Milhaus, Comic Book Guy, Apu, Otto, Patty/Selma, Grandpa, Krusty, Disco Stu,and the late great Lionel Hutz/Troy McClure.

Or they could have done something really BOLD and sold a sheet with 40 or 50 different characters on it... a poster that they could sell for about 44 cents a square inch? Black ink, here we come!

On edit: I left out Skinner and Mrs. Krabapple, but dammit, I want a Disco Stu stamp!

Or if it's an honor enough to be on the stamp that they get a reasonable rate... maybe 50 characters would cost 10 times as much?
