Vectical-have any of you been prescribed this?
My seven year old daughter has seen her third specialist yesterday. She said she either has psoriasis or pityriasis rubra pilaris. One of the medications she prescribed was this vectical. The medication is a cream and comes in a tube of 100g, and is $448 dollars a tube. My doctor did give me a tube of it and told me she didn't know it was that expensive. My daughter goes back in two weeks for a biopsy to find out for sure what she has wrong with her. We have been dealing with this for about 6 or 7 months now, and I just want her better even if it cost $450 a tube. I just wonder if it will actually work. She has been on several different cream steroids and nothing really worked well, and this doctor says at her age she doesn't want her on steroids anyway. She did mention going to the tanning bed to get the D3 she needs. I'm going nuts here. She's so tiny to have to deal with this stuff now. I thought psoriasis was for old people. I have looked both of these diagnosis up on the internet, neither one is curable. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will be back later to read any responses. Thank you in advance.

1. Using a tanning bed regularly is what I've heard works best.
So you might want to take that advice and take your daughter to a clean reputable tanning salon once a week or so. It could really help.

I'm Sorry your daughter has to go through this. That has to be hell for a child. :(

2. Thank you for responding
She has so many painful cracks on her hands and feet that she doesn't want to walk or use her hands at all. She has missed several months of gym class already, wears slippers to school, and can hardly open a door because of her hands. This doctor seems to care and seems to know what she's talking about, so hopefully it will get better.

Its related to Lupus--people of all ages are subject to it.....My company is actually doing clinical trials on monoclonal antibodies to treat psoriasis...So maybe in a few years instead of having to do creams or other surface treatments (which really don't go after the root cause) she will be able to go in an get an infusion (IV) every few months as a treatment. There is ALOT of money and time being invested right now in novel treatments for immunity issues...You might want to research up on the clinical trials..often they need/want people of all age groups..
