What's the best piece of advice you've ever heard?
Regarding love, relationships, life, work, anything. I've been thinking about my mom and my awesome family recently, and about how much good advice they gave me when I was younger (and of course, being young, I ignored almost all of it). So what have you given/received that you think is excellent advice?

From my mom: Marry a person you can have good sex with - if you can be intimate together rather than just physical, it will flow into other parts of your relationship and make it stronger on the whole. Also, watch how a man treats his mother, because that's how he'll treat you.

By and large, I've found both of those things to be very true. So what else y'all got?

2. If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40.
That covers most of the bases.

11. It's actually from a Sci fi book
Cyteen by CJ Cherryh. The advice is from a villain, a mass murderer named Ariane Emory

"Brains and sex fight each other to control your life, and thank God brains get a head start before sex comes along. Sex is when you're the most vulnerable you'll ever be. Brains is when you're least. Brains have to win out, so they make a safe time for sex to happen"

And a little further;
"And for God's sake, don't ever use sex to get your own way where brains won't work. That's the dumbest thing in the world to do, because then you're operating without brains at all aren't you? That's as plain as I can make it"

13. Don't assume other people have the same ethics as you do
from a wise pastor who went on to say, "People always assume others have the same ethical standards they do and that's where honest people get into trouble."
