Screw Ebay!
I sold a book on Ebay, shipped it, then today was told that it had wrinkles on the inside of the book. The book was in excellent condition when I shipped it and the buyer refuses to discuss a resolution as I offered to and instead just leaves negative feedback. I would have gladly given a refund (at least partial, if not total with photographic evidence of the problem) but the buyer acts like a child and won't discuss the problem for a resolution.

Thanks Ebay for your buyer protection but crappy protection for your seller!

Fuck Ebay.

Ebay using DUers -- Is there anything I can do?

I am so pissed because I know how the book was, it as great and I barely used it. What do to? I had 100% positive feedback!

2. Cant you leave the buyer negative feedback too?
I don't ebay that much - well hardly anything in the last 3 years especially since we got "kicked" a year ago (whole other story...) - but last time I actively sold I was able to leave feedback to my buyers, usually the lame "A+++ quick payment, great ebayer" type positive feedback.

Something on the lines of "Buyer perceived problem, refused offers of resolution" or something to that extent - depending on how many characters you have.

3. No, they changed the rules
sellers can old leave positive feedback for buyers, but buyers can leave any kind of feedback for a seller.

4. Now you can only leave positive feedback to you buyers.
I already left feedback after I shipped it, but I could only have the option of leaving positive feedback anyway. I wouldn't mind getting negative if the person would actually talk to me about it instead of accusing me of lying. I would give them a refund if they would talk to me and send the book back, but they are being stubborn.

It seems to me that ebay is more friendly towards buyers than sellers.

6. Can't you respond to the feedback?
I have looked at seller's feedback, and if it is negative, and even on some positive ratings seen a response to the comment, such as "offered refund, attempted resolution and buyer wouldn't respond to communication".

Something along those lines.

12. I just figured out how to do that.
I stated

No damage when shipped. Offered refund w/ evidence of damage, buyer refused.

When I went and looked at the feedback he left other sellers, he often stated water damage as a problem and refused resolutions to the problem. It seems he likes to do this a bit with people who otherwise have perfect feedback.

7. Crap like that is why I don't sell anything on ebay anymore.

Without a functional feedback system there's no reason for buyers not to pull this kind of shit in the hope of getting concessions from the seller for perfectly good merchandise.

8. Any suggestions
as a good place to sell online besides ebay? I usually am just selling my textbooks after I finish using them for class.

9. I was able to reply to the negative feedback.
It makes you suspicious when the person refuses to show you what is wrong with the purchase after you offer a refund if they give evidence of the problem.

Oh well.

If anyone knows of other places I could sell my used textbooks online and get a decent bit for them, it would be appreciated. Usually ebay has been my best bet for getting the most. Has anyone used Amazon before?

14. I have sold on Amazon. Much better experience.
I only had one idiot buyer. Expected me to hop out of my seat and mail the box the second he sent the payment. He had no clue what media mail meant and thought he was getting his book in 2 or 3 days.

The feedback over there is not as accessible as eBay so a much lower percentage of buyers and sellers actually use it. Unless it's changed, it has been awhile.

Overall, I'd much rather sell on Amazon than eBay any day.

16. Amazon works well for the most part...

Their fees seem pretty steep, but they make up for it by not charging to list, so you only pay if you sell. Also, they don't "double dip" by charging you to get your money, like eBay/PayPal. The flat shipping allowance is usually a lot less than it actually costs me to ship the item, so that cuts into my share, too.

I had a 5/5 feedback there, until a few days ago when some guy decides to rank me a 4 because he didn't care for the software that came with the scanner he bought from me. He rated the product and not my service as a seller, as if I was the programmer or something. Doh! There was a space to respond to his feedback though.

17. Even their buyer protection is BS.

My friend got sent a cell phone with with the cell phone missing.

Stupid PayPal wanted a faxed police report for the missing phone in a few days. What a FN joke. I knew the police would laugh, and they did. PayPal is a civil issue BS. Not only that, I think you have to pay some PDs to get a copy of the police report. There goes another 30-40 dollars down the drain, if you managed to get one.

Dude lost his money.

Fuck PayPal and FLeaBAy.
