I managed to break my nose tonight.

I'm going to bed before I manage to hurt myself further...

I was trying to get my garden started when I was loading a 40lb back of peat moss on to a hand cart. When I put the bag on the cart, the handle lurched forward and cracked me across the nose.

It bled a little, it's black and blue and hurts. I'm going to bed.

After I woke up, I never showed off again!

I was in the color guard/flag corp in my high school marching band and I was the only freshman who knew how to toss. I tossed my pole up because a guy I liked was watching, there was a quick gust of wind and it came down faster than I expected. Crack! Right across my nose. Like I said, after I woke up it was a trip to the ER. The doc said if it had been a fraction of an inch higher, the bone would have shattered into my brain and killed me.

I still have one side of the bridge of my nose that has a hump in it and one that doesn't. People say they can't see it, but I can.

A semi-crazed girl from Atlantic City whacked me in the face on purpose because we made a goal. She was thrown out of the game and banned from high school play in NJ. I ahd the biggest black eyes ever!

Dear girl, that sucks. Hate that sort of thing. Really, consider you were doing something constructive at least. Also, if it hit square on, it may hurt like an SOB, but it is less likely to have broken. Also, if it did break, at least it won’t be crooked. :hug:

I've been there- hit my face against the pointy part of the car door. I was grateful for the people who said, "What happened?" as opposed to those who averted their eyes. sure that I was a battered wife.

I remember that pain well. I've done it 3 times. Once as a kid, when a big wooden closet rod, complete with clothing, fell and hit me in the nose. Once when I opened a car door and smacked myself with it(that chipped the bone) and once when my son was a teenager and we crashed, my face into his head.

Dolly/handcart - now your injury makes a bit more sense to me. You said it moved forward and all I could picture was handles flipping up or you would have to be REALLY leaning over.

Horse hit me in the face last summer with his head - I had that black eye thing for about a week and a half. "Shoulda seen the other guy" becomes automatic.
