G.G. Allin. Discuss

Opportunistic punker?

The real deal?

Rock and Roll Messiah?

True Performance Artist?

Simply a disturbed man with a microphone?

Something else entirely?

some of my faves:

-slaughterhouse deathcamp

-i kill everything i fuck

-anal cunt

-hanging out with jim

Never had no friends, I was always the outcast
Just a psycho weirdo, I was just a piece of thrash
But I always had a partner in crime, that's me and Jim
'Cause I spent a lot of time in jail hanging out with him

Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out

Me and Jim were always, always going out
Looking for some fistfights, we were smashing all above
Never knowing where we'd end up, always breaking the law
Beating off on young girls, some nights we almost died

Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out

Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out

Jim and I were fucking crazy, we never had a care
Riding on a death trip, causing trouble everywhere
We're uncontrollable, rebels with a cause
Mr. Beam was always there when I wake up on the floor

Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out
Hanging out with Jim, hanging out

3. I am friends with a guitarist that used to accompany GG allin
He has some of GG's old home movies still on VHS. I have heard about them, but I told my friend to never show them to me. Just the name GG allin makes me sick to my stomach. He is so gross.

4. I vote mentally ill man with a mic.
Yet on Hated, he did have certain people who semi-successfully put up with him, so "disturbed" is relative, shitting on his audience notwithstanding. Dee Dee Ramone was in the Murder Junkies for like, a week?

Just like Anal Cunt, the Douche Lords and Vaginal Jesus, it's about offense by any means necessary.

I don't really think even GG or Seth Putnam thought there was an "art" to what they did. It's a no-filler drunken/drugged blast of their misanthropic reality is all.

13. All of the above, I guess. It doesn't really matter.
I admit to having a morbid fascination with the man and his music, but I'm certainly not going to argue that anything he did was "great performance art."

That said, though, "Outlaw Scumfuc" is a classic anthem for the ages. "Everybody knows I'm a scumbag..."

14. Hilarious fucking psycho.
As long as you didn't stand near the stage, you were fairly safe from the flying feces and physical attack. This dude was fucking nuts. A friend took me to see him one time and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. He comes out on stage totally naked and as the first song starts he runs out into the crowd and starts a fistfight with one of the fans. The band just played on as this nutcase and the fan are rolling around on the stage punching each other. Eventually it breaks up and he's up there singing while bleeding from his head. Then he goes over and starts fellating the bass player who was also his brother which was quite bizarre and then of course, he defecates into his hand and rubs it all over himself and flings it into the crowd. He got off about 10 songs before the cops showed up and killed the power. One of the fans there told me I had seen one of the longest shows Allin had ever performed, they usually were shut down much sooner. It was one of the funniest and most insane things I've ever seen.

When I saw them last HeWhoCannotBeNamed came out naked as usual, and them Blag came out and threw a beer bottle at the crowd. I knew right from the get go that I was in for quite an evening. :)

Sickie Wifebeater had some really good riffs in there. Definitely not PC but really funny.

21. I saw the Mentors back in '87 with St Vitus and another band.
Duce, Wifebeater and Scum- the classic line-up! When I first heard their 'Axed' record a year or two earlier, I started laughing at the first song and never stopped except for flipping the record. That record is a bit like Spinal Tap in that it is really funny and really good at the same time.

I think of GG in the same category as Mentors- REAL shock rockers. GG never really had any good songs though IMO.

I also liked "Don't Talk To Me."

I can't remember why they never went on , but me and my friend ended up talking to Duce for , I don't know, a couple of minutes maybe, and he was a real nice guy, which surprised the hell out of me for some reason.

27. My band used to play at the Cathay de Grande...
...in Hollywood, and often, el duce would be there, just hanging out. We both were playing vintage Camco kits, so we talked drums. Like somebody else mentioned, he was a nice guy. Too bad about the whole train incident...

Don Bolles did the sound at the Cathay a lot, too.

Way back in '83-'87 or thereabouts...

34. At that time...
...1983-87, the band was called The Hundredth Monkey. We put out a single, produced by Geza X ("Quicksand" b/w "Rugged Individual"), and an LP (on vinyl, called "Mute Lament" with cover art by Robert Williams). We also had a track ("Nobody Rules") on a great punk compilation called "Barricaded Suspects" (Toxic Shock) that came out around 1983, and was recently re-issued. I've seen all of them on ebay, although the single is quite rare. I guess the sound could be described as "post punk neo-psychedelia."

My latest record came out last August, "Star Spangled Bummer," by Benedict Arnold & The Traitors. 22 songs inspired by the Bu$hler regime.

We're thinking about doing another Hundredth Monkey record, but before that we're working on a group of "happy mindless pop tunes," sort of "folk rock meets Mr. Rogers as Cheryl Crow, with some edge." Examples of song titles are "Green Sparkle Frog," "I Met A Bird," and "Trampoline."

30. I saw them in 2000 . . . sans Duce, since he was unfortunately inconvenienced by death.
Sickie's son played guitar, Heathen Scum led the band . . . it's weird about Heathen. Unmasked, he looks like a dentist or a chemistry professor. Or a child porn distributor. You make the call.

Hilarious show. It was in this HITW called the Hi Fi. My friend and neighbor, who's a Mentors MARK (has their bootleg videos and vinyl albums), got on stage with others to sing "Four F Club" and "Free Fix". It was a shining moment in his concert adventures.

31. I think Sickie Jr was on stage when I saw 'em 22 years ago.
I was 15 and there was a kid about my age singing back-up for the Mentors (black hood, no shirt like a real 'Tor) Needless to say we were pretty jealous that this kid was touring with the Mentors whereas we had to go back to school the next day.
