Grammar question
I am co-authoring a book right now.

I have used my married name professionally for years, however I would like to reference my maiden name. How is it done?

Mrs. Jones (Smith) or how?

4. Why the "Mrs."?
I don't recall ever seeing that used on any book. It's just names - Charles Dickens, Mary Shelley, Walker Percy, William Shakespeare.

You would be Mary Jones, if that was your maiden name.

Is there any reason to include your married name? If so, then the poster before got it right, but that makes for a very clumsy-looking cover, and I cannot believe there's an editor out there who's gonna let you do that.

You could also be Mary Jones Smith, if Smith were your married name.

To wit, Hillary Rodham Clinton....................

5. this won't be on the cover of the book
it will be in the bio section within...so it won't be such a problem. The outside will just have

"Mary Smith"

The inside bio will have

Mary Smith nee Jones

not sure why I put mrs. in the original post

to be honest i took my married name as a gesture to my husband even though I wanted to keep my maiden name, that was many eons ago.

however in this case my family name is now dying out (there are no males with that name who can carry it on) so I would like to have it referenced at least in this text.

6. Ah, got it.......
It all makes sense now.

Yeah, we do make mistakes with that name thing. I ended up having to go to court, filing my own motion, to take back my maiden name, which is much jazzier than my married name.

Good for you, and best of luck with the book..............

10. I just finished my own
author's proof. Never do I hate my own words more than after I've already written them. People are shocked when they find out that I've never read any of my books.

Good for you. The hardest part is over. Well done ....................

9. When I was growing up, lots of women were referred to as
FirstName MaidenName HusbandsSurname

so if you were born Ida Wah and married a Mr. Chittiffiwaryu, the newspapers would refer to you as Ida Wah Chittiffiwaryu
